Bio

Once known as Gator "The Microphone Menace", Gidon which means Mighty Warrior and Spiritual Conquerer, changed his name to become the epitome of a true hip-hop artist and performer. Whether he’s on the stage or in the studio creating masterpieces through lyricism, he has proven to be a dedicated MC to the hip-hop world by exemplfying the art of words and rhythm in its truest form. Originally from Austin, Texas, Gidon became a rapper at the age of 16 when he wrote his first verse. He began working on his craft immediately after developing a passion for the art of hip-hop and a love for music. Gidon’s influences in hip-hop were artists like Ludacris, Eminem, and Tupac. Listening to these three artists helped Gidon formulate his style of delivery in controlling the rhythm of the beat, while giving out the raw but yet animated reality through words.

At age 18, Gidon and 2 other rappers (Lyricist and Phenom) from Austin formed a group by the name of “Public Offenders” in late 2002. The young trio quickly hit the inner city streets of Austin with their message of addressing the conditions of poverty and injustices of society. They gained recognition on a local level when their 1st album “Day of Truth” hit the streets. They grasped the support of thousands within their community by selling over 10,000 units by hand. Eventually, two more members were added to the P.O crew (B.Prophet and Yoli) and the group began to endeavor outside their neighborhood into the city life of downtown Austin and onto the live music scene. When their next album “Drop Jewels” dropped, the group was asked to tour outside of Texas to major cities like New Orleans and New York. The group has featured in the very successful live music festival "South by Southwest" opening up for major acts like Devin the Dude and UGK.

In the summer of 2009, Gidon split from his long-time rap crew that gained him recognition as an artist to persue a solo career. Since the separation, Gidon has performed at many venues exploding the hip-hop scene with his presence. Watching a performance of "The Mighty Warrior" has been labeled with such terminology as refreshing, intense, powerful, superb, etc. Heart-pumping beats in back of stomach-wrentching lyrics, combined with energetic movements makes a "Gidon" showcase one of distinguished proportions.
