11:30am, 2pm - New York Life's Main Stage- Musical performance by Gigi® and the Lend Me a Hand Band®. A highly acclaimed, interactive family band that keeps families singing, laughing & dancing with a variety of musical styles, puppets & floats. The inter-generational family band led by multi-award winning singer, Gigi® received National Recognition as Finalists in the 2008 Children's Music Web Awards for both Best Album and Best Song for Pre-Schoolers, for their Movement & Merriment CD. The group was the Featured Children's Band this past year at "Sunoco's Welcome Americafest" 4th of July celebration in Philadelphia, PA. Gigi was also a recipient of a grant from Meet the Composer, National Endowment for the Arts and NY State Council for the Arts for her work in Children's Music. GIGI and the Lend Me a Hand Band Gets Kids Moving:
Today, I was in the right place at the right time. While talking to someone today, I heard that there would be a "music and dance show" for the kids in a half hour.
My son is almost 6, so when I saw the flyer, I passed it by because it said, 1-5 years old. I am so glad someone took the time to invite me because my kids had a blast.
The two women (the duo) who performed today are part of a musical family (trio & full band) who are available for parties, libraries, engagements, preschools, schools, and more.
.....we were all having a wonderful time. The women were engaging, entertaining, funny, witty, and clever.
The music they perform is super kid friendly. All the kids were sitting right in front of them performing the songs and doing the dances the Gigi and Granny Franny asked of them. Mixed with classics such as Old McDonald, 5 Green Speckled Frogs, and more were a slew of activities that made the kids jump, clamp, stamp their feet, make animal noises, and march around the room. The kids all loved the opportunity to speak into the microphone as Gigi asked questions, giving everyone their moment to shine.
My kids loved it! They sat right in front and told me later they really enjoyed themselves. "Can we see them again?"........
I really wish I had my camera today!

Gigi, a multi award winning singer of international renown, recently returned to the Bronx Zoo's famous Boo at the Zoo October 2011 in a staged musical extravaganza, "Gigi's BOOSICAL Adventures". She was recently dubbed the "Bette Midler for the Family Set" by Patrons for her soaring music, outrageous sense of humor and contagious enthusiasm. She was 2010 Grand Marshall for the Wildlife Conservation Society's "Boo at the Zoo" leading 33 musical shows and 22 parades for 120,000 visitors to "Outstanding" reviews. FINALISTS IN THE 2008 CHILDREN'S MUSIC WEB AWARDS for our CD "Movement & Merriment":Best Album for Pre-Schoolers & Best Song for Pre-Schoolers! ! The audience is all asked to Lend a Hand with the Lend Me a Hand Band. Their shows are filled with Music and Merriment and a true interactive blend of music, creativity, spontaneity and loads of family fun. The Band is an outgrowth of Gigi’s classroom experiences as a music teacher. Gigi is an award winning, and internationally acclaimed former Classical Singer who has worked with children in music for almost 25 years. Combined with the wonderful musical talents of her Mom, Granny Franny on Keyboards, Husband Larry booming away on the Bass, friends Meteor Mike on the Electric Guitar, Uncle Paul on the Saxophone and now often her teenaged son Evan on one of many instruments and roadie Grand Pa John - the band invites families to share the joy and creation of music from their family to all of your families. WE ARE FAMILY! This wonderful experience has taken the band from the HUGE TOWER of POWER stages of the Time Warner Good Will Games, to the banks of the Hudson River for the Yonkers Hudson Riverfest, to the banks of Westport, CT for SAVE THE CHILDREN & the Levitt Pavilion, to Zoos and Aquariums and to the stages of theatres such as the Helen Hayes Performing Arts Center, Emelin Theatre and many more. Gigi was asked by the New York Aquarium to create a show in Rock/Swing/Doo Wop style about Sea Mammals and other ocean life. This lead to their ROCKIN IN THE OCEAN show and CD, and a long and ongoing affiliation with the WCS. Their rousing crowd pleaser,"PENGUIN ROCK", has been traveling our entire digital world at High Speed and is one of their most requested numbers at shows!
The Band’s shows all include Puppets and small floats that the children get to touch or parade around. Songs have families up and dancing, laughing and singing. All Lend Me a Hand Band Shows end in a Giant March for the whole family. In Theaters and Clubs the audience claps along or marches in place. One parent’s description of our show is as follows, “Imagine a Mosh Pit filled with little Moshers all chanting, singing and dancing – that’s what a Gigi show is like!” We agree.
