London, England, GBR

'Gilbert is stylistically eclectic and eccentric, crossing genres such as folktronica, electronica, classical music, dream pop and spoken word. The music is richly-layered, combining vintage analog synths and organs with orchestral instruments such as harp, celeste and strings'. (Wikipedia entry)

Gilbert are a London-based band and brainchild of composer/drummer Matthew Gilbert Linley. A debut album completed in 2007 - ‘Gilbert’ - received rave reviews and extensive national radio play, gaining a digital release soon after on the Indie label, Shifty Disco Records. The music was subsequently performed live by 5 people (playing an array of drums/percussion, bass, organs, violins, horns, singing and spoken word) extensively throughout the UK including notable sets at the 2007 Green Man Festival, 2008 Loop Festival, and 2009 Southbank Udderbelly. Gilbert also supported Mice Parade in London, October 2010.

Matthew Linley also plays drums in Engineers with Ulrich Schnauss.
