Lyrics

One Day

Written By: Giles E. Blankenship

Verse 1:
I don’t wanna forget your face now
I don’t wanna lose your smile
I don’t wanna leave the broken pieces
For a little while
I don’t wanna feel a little better
Don’t wanna pretend that it’s ok
I don’t wanna get on with my life
For one more day

Chorus 1:
I wanna hurt a little longer
I wanna cry for one more night
I wanna live with this inside me
I wanna fight
I wanna wrap my arms around you
I wanna hear you say my name
I wanna be the one to hold you
Say how much I love you …Today

Verse 2:
I don't wanna make do with just a
picture
I don't wanna say goodbye
I don't wanna live on memories
For any length of time
I don’t wanna leave it where we left off
Don’t wanna be a thousand miles away
I don’t wanna hear the songs we sang
And see your face (‘cause I wanna be
there)

Chorus 1

Bridge:
I know you are holding on
So if I can’t be where you are today

Chorus 2:
I’m gonna hurt a little longer
I might cry for one more night
Yes, I will live with this inside me
I’m gonna fight
One day I’ll wrap my arms around you
I’m gonna hear you say my name
And I will be the one to hold you
Say how much I love you…
Outro:
…One day …some - day

Well Done

Written By: Giles E. Blankenship

Well Done © 2006 words and music by giles e. blankenship
V1:
That autumn mornin’ it was cold
I was almost six years old
We headed to the fishin hole
As we’d done before
Daddy’d always bait my line
He’d Cast it out and in no time
The cork would sink; my heart would climb
Come on, Dad let’s fish some more

But this time daddy said, “Now Son
It’s up to you, you’ve seen it done”
So with baited breath and likewise hook
It wasn’t pretty or by the book
But I caught that fish and I caught my Daddy’s look….He said

Chorus 1:
Good job, well done
I am so proud
She ‘bout broke your line
But you didn’t back down
I said, I know
I just copied you that’s how, that’s how
And with a glint in his eye
He said, “Son, glad you’re mine…well done.”

V2:
Well I was almost 25
Had a son and gorgeous wife
A house, a dog, I had the life
I could not ask for more
And daddy’d call as he would do
He’d check in every week or two
He’d say, “how’s the wife and how are you
And how’s that boy of yours?”

But on one night as I recall
He cleared his throat, said, “above all
Love your wife and don’t look back
Hold your son every chance.”
I said, dad I do, and you’re to thank for that…he said
Chorus 2:
Good job, well done
You’ve made me so proud
Against the odds
You never backed out
I said, I know
I just copied you that’s how, that’s how
And with a catch in his voice…He said
“You’ll always be my little boy…”

Bridge:
It was a late November night last fall
But like yesterday as I recall
They’d taken Dad and said it wasn’t good
I pulled a chair up to his bed
And through the tubes and all the rest
What caught me was his smile and then he said

Live your life with no regrets
Love the Lord and do your best
And make the most of every day you get
Then I took his hand and this is what I said

Chorus 3:
Good job, well done
I am so proud…I’ll
Take care of mom
You can go now
I’ll be alright
I’ll just copy you, that’s how, that’s how

Outro:
Good job, well done
I am so proud
I’ll live my life with no regrets
Love the Lord and do my best, I’ll do my best
Make the most of the days I get, I’ll be alright
A distant gleam in his eyes, I said
Dad, glad you’re mine….well done…well done
