Gillateen

Travis "Gillateen" Case became an emcee, at a high school lunch table, at St. Frances Academy, in Baltimore, Maryland. He and his friends would play "the dozens" every lunch period to pass the time. "If you turn your cracks into raps, you would be hella nice!" said his friend, Torrey Curry. That day, Curry, along with Travis' best friend, Theo "Profit" Edwards, locked Case in a room, with a notebook, and he has been writing ever since. His inspirations and music are a fusion of Jay-Z, Nas, Kanye West and Outkast. Upon first look, Gillateen doesn't appear to be your typical emcee. He has no tattoos. He dons no chains. However, when he's given a mic and a stage, he becomes someone else entirely. He's an animated performer, to say the least, as he makes his presence known by stalking the entire stage. If asked what sets him apart he'll say, "I want to tell people the unabashed truth about being the kid who never fit entirely into the nerd, jock, or cool crowd. I want to give people the whole story, no matter how painful it is."
