"The All-Canadian Girl"

Simply put, Gillian is the all-Canadian girl. She is authentic and down-to-earth and this comes across in her music. At the young age of 22 she has a strong sense of who she is as an artist. Had she been alive in the 60's, she would have been hanging out with the likes of Neil Young and Joni Mitchell.” - -Hugh Dickie Producer/Musician/Songwriter

"Incredibly Uplifting Music!"

"Saying that she has a great voice is just a given. What sets Gillian Hobbs apart from most contemporary artists is how uplifting her music is. Not in a heavy-handed or preachy way either, in a way that simply lifts you up and makes you smile and sing along."

- -Gregory Milne Photographer, Film-maker

Bio

Gillian's straight forward lyrics and her stirring melodies have been capturing the hearts of audiences since she burst on the Canadian music scene in November 2008 with the release of her debut album: “Something to Write Home About.”

Influenced by Canadian legends like Leonard Cohen, Sarah McLachlan, KD Lang, Joni Mitchell, Jann Arden and Alan Doyle, Gillian's music is honest, heartfelt and inspiring. Gillian's down-to-earth, honest lyrics show an artist not afraid of her own vulnerability and show uncharacteristic maturity and insight for someone so young. Her songs are incredibly uplifting. They make her listeners feel good and encourage them to live their dreams. Look for her debut release: Something to Write Home About at www.itunes.com or your favourite digital retailer.

This past summer, Gillian embarked on a hugely successful BC tour, including playing at two of BC's finest music festivals, the Edge of the World music festival in the Queen Charlotte Islands, and the Islands Folk Festival in Duncan, BC.

Gillian also recently performed in the Burnaby Arts Council's: “Stars of Tomorrow” Showcase, a Spirit of BC 2010 Olympic Countdown celebration. She also garnered the attention of the Music Industry Association of BC with her Christmas Song "Sit 'Round the Fire" from the highly anticipated Rave On Studio compilation “A Very Vancouver Christmas” Vol 4.
