"CiXi Digital Records Announces Its First Spoken Word Soul Artist - Gill Sotu"

(PRLog Press Release) - October 6, 2010 - CiXi Digital Records has recently added Spoken Word Soul artist Gill Sotu to their roster, a poet who masterfully combines spoken word and vocal melodies with funk, soul, acoustic, and hip-hop elements.

New to the CiXi Digital Records Artist Roster is poet Gill Sotu of San Diego, California. Sotu holds a number of titles, including Los Angeles Green Grand Slam Poetry Champion (2007), Ventura County Grand Slam Champion (2006), semi-finalist of the National Slam representing the San Diego Slam Team (2008), and three-time winner of Borders Books Annual Poetry Slam. Additionally, his debut album “Elephant Heart” was nominated for five Mavric Independent Music Awards, including Hip-Hop Album of the Year (2008).

In crafting his art over the years, Sotu has found a synergy between the competitiveness of slam poetry and the unifying aspect of open mic forums. His sophomore release, "Flawed American Male", highlights this synergy through a unique blend of polished performances and collaborations with high caliber artists, masterfully combining spoken word and vocal melodies with funk, soul, acoustic, and hip-hop elements. Through this approach, along with an insatiable desire to be heard, Sotu is primed to get the attention he deserves as a poet, songwriter, and entertainer.

"CiXi Digital Records is proud to stand behind Gill Sotu. Not only is he an exceptional poet, but he is a humble and engaging performer. We have seen him bring tears to his audience's eyes in one breath, and make them laugh and clap joyously in the next. You don't just hear Gill, you feel his words and his emotion. There is no question that he is meant for the stage. His heartfelt music will be promoted to all who will listen, because it is indeed worthy of being heard."

"Flawed American Male" will be released October 15th, 2010. A CD Release Party will be held at Queen Bee’s Art and Cultural Center, 3925 Ohio St, San Diego, CA, 92104.
