"Eclectic duo coming to Wilmington"

“Coming from a background of roots music and jazz, the collision of urban and rural makes for very danceable, hip shaking stuff, especially on the soulful rocking number “Somebody Loves You.” The sound is awash in 70’s blaxpoitation film scores and jazz guitar interplay, from wah-wah guitar work to throbbing bass lines.”
Brian Tucker - Star News Online - Star News Online

"Music on Main"

“Nathan Gillum alone often sounded as if he were 2 or 3 different musicians, working in sync with his brothers poly-rhythmic percussion to create a sound much bigger than expected from the compact duo”
Tim Preston - Daily Independent - Daily Independent

Bio

Gillumesh started via the internet while the Gillum brothers, originally from KY, we're pursuing other musical endeavors in Nashville, TN and Brooklyn, NY. The brothers felt so strongly about their new project that they relocated and hit the ground running as Gillumesh, a play on their last name and what they do best, meshing musically.
Nathan uses a custom hybrid instrument that allows him to play bass and guitar at the same time. Andrew plays some of the most sophisticated textural drumming you will likely ever hear. They sing harmony and write songs to showcase and push themselves musically. They are influenced by icons of jazz, traditional, soul and pop genres.
No one is doing what Gillumesh is doing right now. What really sets them apart is their strong musical bond as brothers, their skill in jazz and roots music combined with seemingly limitless creativity. This duo sounds like much more than just 2 people, it sounds like one of the best new bands of 2013.
