Gilvan de Oliveira started his musical career as a drum player at eleven years old and turning thirteen he started to play the guitar, instrument that was described by him as ``organic as a living heart´´.

However his drum playing technique highly influenced his guitar compositions and musical arrangements, all of which can be appreciated in his music.
