Ginesa Ortega is one of the most intriguing flamenco singers on the Catalan scene. Classically trained, she rose to fame with a series of daring, innovative projects, such as her collaboration with La Fura dels Baus theatre group, recording popular songs by García Lorca and performing with the Iberia group, which fuses jazz and flamenco. She has also produced innovative flamenco versions of songs by Serrat, Billie Holliday and Dulce Pontes.


Although she was born in France, this catalan gypsy singer moved to Cornellá de Llobregat when she was a baby. Artistically made ??in Catalonia, in a classic song base, is very versatile and is also interested in the sounds of jazz, takes part in the flamenco-fusion group Iberia.
She has collaborated with many artists and institutions, such as l'Orquestra del Teatre Lliure, La Fura dels Baus or Joan Manuel Serrat.
In 1991 Ortega Ginesa recorded with l'Orquestra del Teatre Lliure directed by Josep Pons "El amor brujo" (Manuel de Falla).
