Giraffedactyl

Giraffedactyl sews the seams of sound shut. With the ramshackle rattle of haunted barnyard implements casting a jittery percussive backdrop, Megan James unstrings her piano, weaving melodic webs that are at once neo-classically tinged, vaguely gothic, and deeply romantic. The odd elfin baroness of the weird lyrical world she articulates in harmonious sighs and mouth clicks, James' voice strikes a rare balance, quivering between cute and creepy, familiar and foreign, beautiful and unsettling. Having toured Canada extensively with bands like Yes Nice and GOBBLE GOBBLE, James recently decided to strike out on her own, recording the haunting "Yes We'll Glow" with on-the-mark Edmonton producer Eric Cheng (Spreepark, Michael Rault, Outdoor Miners, Gift Eaters, etc) at his Wash N Dry Studios. The result is utterly captivating in its quiet and chilling splendor, and goes some way towards explaining the uncanny silences that erupt in crowds when Giraffedactyl takes the stage.
