"Mr. Do-It-All"

Girlfriends, the one-man project from Valley-turned-Pullman resident Jerry Joiner, has only been playing shows since March. Despite this short time frame, Girlfriends is the talk of the music scene. He’s already opened for Mad Rad, Blastoids and Lexi Sayok, in addition to having just finished a West Coast tour. Joiner constructs songs live by using a loop pedal, guitar and keyboard. Things really heat up when he sits behind the drum kit and plays along to the loops he just made, with screaming vocals thrown in for good measure. There is more here than the sum of the parts, however, as a Girlfriends show consistently draws solid crowds and forces ever-reluctant Spokanites to dance. - The Inlander

"Pegasus Dream at the Pegasus Mansion"

Jerry Joiner, an experimental solo artist up from WSU, opened the show by looping keyboard, electric guitar and drums into patterns that built in energy and complexity. It was his first show ever. He killed it. - The Inlander

"Girlfriends, Grand Sequoia, The Toy Garden and Matthew Winters Wednesday, April 29th at the Empyrean Coffee House"

"... he loops the guitar, keys, and then destroys a drum-set while he screams a few words here and there at the top of his lungs." - www.checkitoutmusic.com

Bio

I'm sorry. I had a friend come up with a biography (I don't like talking about myself much) and I used it. After reviewing it as the deadline for this approaches, I had to edit it; it wasn't genuine. I'm a fairly introverted guy, so I'll just tell you what I've done and you can listen and watch and think and decide if you like it for yourself. Thank you, and again, I'm sorry.

I have done a small, 12 date tour through much of Washington, California, Nevada, Utah, and Idaho. I have recorded two albums released on 12/19/2009, called "Girlfriends" and "Girlfriends (Reverse)". I value authenticity above all else and am still searching how to fully explore that. For live shows, I loop about 6-9 guitar parts, sometimes synth parts, and then sing/yell to it while playing drums. I am a college student at Washington State University in Vancouver, WA. I'm very grateful to have come this far in such a short amount of time. I plan to become much better as a human and musician so I can inspire others to do something better than I have.
