...home grown rock band Girls Give Me Pills, a brand new band to hit the circuit…..and they have a female drummer! A solid, kick ass, female drummer! Not much information about them available yet, their website not fully populated. Founded in September 2015 (according to their FB page) their debut was just three months later on Boxing Day. Members are Adam, Kyle and Karli (whom I am assuming is the drummer). Solid performance by this trio, I’ll be keeping my ears to the ground. - Pat Blythe

Bio
Girls Give Me Pills was formed in September 2015. Kyle (bass)
and myself (guitar, vocals) were born and raised in Los Angeles and started our first bands together as teenagers in the early 90's. Kyle has played in many local Toronto bands through the years since moving here from California about 20 years ago. I bounced around musical genres, writing, producing and collaborating. With the industrial group "Wax Sound", I received a Los Angeles Music Award in 2006, then moved to Toronto in 2009.
In 2012, Kyle and I formed "California Death Rays". CDR played around town to good buzz for 3 years, were broadcast and interviewed on the Edge by Bookie, earned a spot at the 2013 NXNE and opened for "The Mark Inside", "Maximum RNR", "Stark Naked and the Fleshtones" and "The Noble Savages". Soon after an opening spot for "Forgotten Rebels" at Lee's Palace, we dissolved CDR in early 2015. Kyle joined and started performing with "Old Code".
After a summer listening to a lot of great music, writing and experimenting with different concepts, we re-focused on starting a new rock and roll band with a batch of all new songs. By September we began the search for a drummer, and that's when we got lucky and found Karli (drums, vocals). She's been a member the bands "Purrr" and "Crooked Valentine" and brings fresh energy and a cohesiveness to the band. The chemistry works, and we've been busy moving forward, writing more material as a group, and planning our attack to infiltrate the Toronto music scene and beyond.
Girls Give Me Pills' sound is somewhere between punk, blues and something that probably would have sounded really at home in the 90's. Not exactly a conscious thing, just our roots.
Please forgive the lack of pretending to be written in 3rd person.
