Bio
GisBranco is a duo formed by the young pianists Bianca Gismonti and Claudia Castelo Branco. Bianca is the daughter of the renowned composer and musician Egberto Gismonti. Bianca and Claudia combine an interest for Brazilian and other Latin American rhythms and jazz with a solid and wide-ranging classical education to explore to the maximum the sonority of the piano at the intersection between popular and classical music.
They have built a unique repertoire of instrumental music for two pianos, creating their own arrangements as well as using those of others. The repertoire includes works by Astor Piazzolla, Egberto Gismonti, Hermeto Pascoal, Toninho Horta, Heitor Villa-Lobos, Ernesto Nazareth, Edu Lobo, and also own compositions along with more recent composers like Leandro Braga and André Mehmari.
The duo is a highlight in the Brazilian instrumental scene, receiving favorable reviews by the specialized media and the support of renowned musicians, such as André Mehmari, Gilson Peranzzetta, Egberto Gismonti, Carlos Malta, Mauricio Einhorn, among many others.
They have been performing in all of the most important concert halls and Jazz Festivals around Brazil, including performances for several TV shows.
