Give It To Me Rusty is a musical collaboration with Seattle's downtown homeless community. Aaron Zuege and Noah Dassel adapt the stories of the homeless to guitar and vocal harmony, creating a sound often compared to Simon and Garfunkel. All lyrics are word-for-word, retrieved from interactions on the street. These songs preserve and archive the tales of the homeless in the spirit of Alan Lomax, Woody Guthrie, and Johnny Cash.

Give It To Me Rusty's mission is to give voice to the homeless thr

Biography

The project began while busking and organically grew into the social documentary project it is today. While Zuege and Dassel performed on the streets, the homeless approached the duo to share their life experiences. These casual interactions evolved into an interview-based process which rekindles the art of American storytelling through song.

Give It To Me Rusty is producing a short documentary about their unique connection with the homeless through songwriting. The film is intended for SXSW and the indie film circuit. The duo completed a cross-country tour in 2009 which included local and national radio performances. They are planning a 2011 tour to coincide withthe release of the film. Give It To Me Rusty is currently gathering new content to record a second album and is organizing a Thanksgiving concert at Seattle's Town Hall in 2010. All of these efforts promote Give it To Me Rusty's overall vision of raising resources to support and elevate awareness of the marginalized homeless community.
