Givenstone's core song writers Gary and Wade have been writing and playing music for 15 years with a break when Wade headed West and Gary headed East both playing in bands wherever they lived. Gary started the first incarnation in Fredericton and brought it to Toronto before finally ending up in Alberta with co-writer Wade after many years of trying.
Givenstone's music is a mix of light and dark, soft and heavy drawing from their numerous influences from a wide range and taste. Such influences as Led Zepplin, Pink Floyd, Tool, Pearl Jam, S.T.P, A.I.C, The Tea Party, Helmet, Chevelle, Sevendust, SoundGarden, Muse, and many more.
In a sea of cover bands Givenstone choose to focus on writing and playing original music while playing occasional homage to their influences.
Songs run the gamut from acoustic based songs to full out riff based hard rock, and Wade's lyrics draw inspiration from everything from world events to everyday situations. Givenstone's live show is full of energy and is an assault on the senses!
