"LISTEN >> Glacier Pacific – Canyons"

Leeds four-piece Glacier Pacific are all kinds of awesome. Trust us.

We’ve had a good few sneaky listens to some of their tunes and they’re an outstanding bunch. They’ve just embarked on a new adventure, and, much like the name Eliott, Adam, Jonny and Richard now go by, their first offering is vast, sparse, beautiful.

Canyons is a slow-burning delight, building from haunting, captivating keys and the opening line of “I lost myself in a canyon and I can’t find my way back. You could lift me from my knees if you give me the love I lack…” as the drums provide an aching heartbeat.

The tune just totally excites me. Maybe it’s because I know what else is to come – but still, it’s a rousing introduction to a great new band from this fair city. Once Glacier Pacific get out on the road in October/November time, go see them live. - Bang The Drum

"WTGR PREMIERE: GLACIER PACIFIC // CANYONS"

Band names are curious things. Some crave attention. Others have clearly been decided upon in a panicked rush minutes before the first gig poster gets sent to print. Every now and then however, you get a name that so perfectly aligns with the music that it creates a surprisingly powerful introduction. A sense that a band realise early on exactly what they are trying to achieve. Leeds four-piece Glacier Pacific are such a group.

‘Canyons’ is the first piece of work that the teenagers have unleashed to world, however within seconds its clear that their sound is as vast and dense as their name suggests. A wash of keyboards usher things in, before multi-tracked vocals and guitars big enough to sink the Titanic keep ‘Canyons’ moving forward. The pace is downbeat, adding a certain slacker rock undertone in parts, helped by the less-than-urgent vocal style.

There is no chorus per se, rather just a skyscraper guitar motif that keeps circling. That’s not to say there’s a lack of melody either, as each line drips with the stuff. Subtle melodies add texture. It’s all very charming.

We’ll of course keep you posted the more we hear from Glacier Pacific, but for now sit back and enjoy one of the strongest introductions we’ve heard all year. - When The Gramophone Rings

Bio

As a currently unknown four piece, Glacier Pacific have been making music together for the past six years. Having gained experience in performance through intensive gigging under various band names and priding themselves on their self produced recordings, the band have decided to take themselves seriously. They're releasing their new band alongside their first single, 'Canyons'. This is to be followed up by a much anticipated UK tour, with much more music to come.
