Bio
We are a Celtic trio that features vocals, acoustic guitar, fiddle, Scottish bagpipes, bodhran and other Celtic percussion, and tin whistle. We offer a wide range of Celtic tunes, both traditional and more modern as well, from Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Canada, and America. Our influences include The Chieftains, The Dubliners, The Tannahill Weavers, The Pogues, Black 47, Flogging Molly, and Dropkick Murphys, and we include our own arrangements of tunes from all of these groups in each performance. We also have a number of original tunes.
Over the last several years, we have played a significant number of Celtic/Folk festivals, including ShamrockFest at RFK stadium in DC, the Richmond Highland Games and Celtic Festival, the Williamsburg Scottish Festival, The Church Hill Irish Festival (Richmond, VA), Harvest Faire (Newport News, VA), and the Southeastern Virginia Celtic Festival (Virginia Beach, VA). We also play at local pubs and other establishments on a regular basis. Most recently, we opened for The Chieftains on St. Patrick's Day.
The band's lead singer and guitarist, Edward Brash, hails from the "Scotch Line" in Ontario, Canada. Edward is a classically trained vocalist with a wide range. Edward has also won awards for his singing of tunes in Scots Gaelic and Irish.
John McGlynn is the band's fiddle player. John is a native of Scotland, growing up around Glasgow. John recalls vividly from his childhood, the close family ties with Ireland. He has family in both of these Celtic nations.
Tom Crouch rounds out the trio with the Great Highland bagpipes, border pipes, and tin whistle, and also serves as the trio's percussionist with the bohdran and bones. Tom is a native born Virginian of Scots-Irish descent.
