Bio

Glass Elevator is dedicated to the creation of high quality music utilizing minimal resources. We are a completely independent outfit with no backing. We produce our own recordings, book our own gigs, and write and perform our own songs using only the equipment at our disposal. We make the best with what we have. We strive at all times to be better musicians, better songwriters, and better producers. We do not use our independent status as an excuse to be lazy or to sound bad. Instead we pride ourselves on making professional-grade music despite our disadvantages.

Ignoring trends and fads we strive to make the music we want to hear. We embrace change and new ideas without discarding traditional methods or time-tested formulas. We have no boundaries other than those we set for ourselves. The result is creative new music with a subtle familiarity and a depth that is increasingly becoming a rare commodity.

In this modern world music seems to be less and less a form of artistic expression and more and more an outlet for propaganda; a medium to sell fashion, technology, and a consumer-based lifestyle. We reject this notion. Glass Elevator is not trying to sell anything other than good music and the very real concept that your life is your own and you may live it in any way you please. In this way we are a true alternative band.

Our aim as a band is to show people that the world is a beautiful and fantastic place despite all the evidence against it. We attempt to be a musical beacon of light and love in an endless sea of darkness and doubt. Our music invokes a positive attitude toward a culture that is increasingly filled with fear, narcissism, and self-absorption. On the surface Glass Elevator’s music is carefree and positive. When examined more closely, however, you will notice a recurring theme of dissatisfaction and foreboding. We choose not to turn our backs on our society’s ills, but instead to expose them while providing simple solutions to complex problems.

Glass Elevator does not easily fit into a genre or a scene. We are the free-thinkers; the willful outcasts in a world that increasingly favors assimilation and conformity. We invite all of you that feel the same way to join us. We believe firmly that the world can be a better place and we will spend the rest of our lives trying to make it so.
