"Music Video Of The Day"

We've got a new video today sent to us by local outfit Glass Lux. The synth heavy track sounds like something straight off the dance floor at Berlin. The video is simple yet slightly eerie in feel and reminds us of something M83 would make. If you like what you hear, head out to The Burlington (3425 W. Fullerton) tomorrow night and catch the band live. - The Chicagoist

"Glass Lux - Esther"

I first saw this Chicago band live at my very first Chocolate Sunday at SXSW! The lead singer, who reminds you of a bad-ass Janelle Monae-type, is something more than amazing. Seeming to have mastered the art of percussion is their drummer, able to perform most genres of music, be it electronic or other, with the flick of his wrist. They always give a stellar performance! I’m sure we’ll see them on a Grammy stage sooner than we think! You don’t know how much I’d love to work with Emily and Alfonso! These are the types of songs we unknowingly memorize the words to. Listen to Glass Lux. - Ashten Grade A Living

"8 Music Acts That Will Knock Your Socks Off"

Glass Lux

We’ve got a confession to make: We’ve got a major girl crush on Glass Lux singer Emily Morse. A dead ringer for Minka Kelly with a badass sense of style, she’s one of those chicks you’d kill to be friends with. Electronica fanatics will have her vocals on repeat with “I’m a Machine,” a track she mastered with her partner in crime, local producer/DJ Alfanso Mayen (Perfect Kiss, Blacklight Saints). Between Morse’s crooning and Mayen’s production, this twosome takes its sound beyond Chicago city limits, creating nothing short of Euro pop fierceness. - Refinery 29

"Female Artists Shaking Up Chicago's Music Scene"

Emily Morse (of Glass Lux)

As one half of the Euro-pop duo Glass Lux (her partner is local producer/DJ Alfonso Mayen), Morse sings with a voice that haunts, soothes and excites in equal measure. Over Mayen's synth beats and pulsing electronica, she fits the "Italo disco" bill to a tee: beautiful, mysterious and endlessly unique. - WBEZ 91.5 NPR Radio

"Glass Lux @ Empty Bottle"

Glass Lux is Alfonso Mayen and Emily Morse, and together they have been making music for a couple of years. The duo has been building hype for their debut release for awhile through their live performances and due to their first single "I'm A Machine".

You can catch Glass Lux on Feb 27th at Empty Bottle with Love & Radiation and The Deer Tracks. - The Deli Chicago

"Tom Schraeder Talks Exclusive About his Upcoming "Chicago, I Love You" Festival"

Tom Schraeder comments on Glass Lux to perform in upcoming festival "Chicago, i Love You."

"Chicagoist: I have to confess, I’m not familiar with all the acts on the press release, but I don’t see any names that might be familiar to readers of Fake Shore Drive, or to fans of local electronic music. Can you talk about the more non-indie acts on the festival?

TS: There’s this band Natureal—they’re for sure the next big thing. I’ve been playing with them for years, and when I try to keep up, they just rip. They’re one of my top five bands in general. They come from Pilsen. And then there’s Microphone Misfitz, they’re real honest, and they represent Chicago really well.

Those are my two real favorites, but in the electronic scene, there’s this band Glass Lux. It’s just really poppy dance music, like something from London. So it’s bands like that that a lot of people might know, but they’re not going to be booked at some festival, like Wicker Park Fest or whatever it is. They play these places where you can’t really disclose where it is, otherwise the cops would come and shut it down. " - Chicagoist

"Building the Scene: Tom Schraeder Speaks on Chicago, I Love You"

Tom Schraeder comments on Glass Lux to perform among the artists in "I Love You Chicago: Music, Arts and Culture Festival."

"FP: What shows are you most pumped about? There’s so much there that it’s hard to even pick where to begin.

TS: Honestly, I’m looking forward to all of it, but there are some standout days. The Windy City Story Slam (9/10) will be awesome. Amazing writers and authors will get together to talk about the city and read their pieces. You’ll see, there’s a serious bi-polar love for Chicago from Chicagoans that is real, I don’t know if it’s from the extreme weather or what. I’ve had it my entire life, and I know pretty much every other Chicagoan does too.

As far as music goes, there’s so many nights. The last night of the month we’ll be going from 1 PM to close, so it’s a full day of music. That should be a blast. And a few days before, Glass Lux (9/28) are playing who are really great. They almost have a “Brooklyn Feel” to them, but they certainly have a Chicago angst to it. But there’s just so many, you can’t pick just one." - Frontier Psychiatrist

"GLASS LUX - I'm A Machine (Paradise & Mork Remix)"

Chicagoan Ryan Paradise and resident DJ for the Debonair Social Club (each and every Friday & Saturday) is trailblazing his own selection of eclectic dance music genres abound a 5-6 hour set of cheerful and pleasurable tracks. Delighting our ears by remixing this local Chicago based band, Ryan Paradise takes on board the Original stems of Glass Lux and whisks them into a ball of equanimity and punchy-serenity. Full marks for top class work. - Aerial Noise

"Glass Lux & Sam Padrul"

Wuuudup!! Papi Beatz reporting from Goodlife Studios for the second time today to fill you in on some totez cool music stuff! Just had Alfonso Mayen from the local Electronic duo Glass Lux over at Goodlife Studios to finalize their upcoming, self-titled EP. Is it to early to say this will be the best hipster release of 2012? I'll let you guys decide... Here's a song I wish was a real life female so I could grab her boobs, kiss her neck and then fuck her furiously:

If the chorus doesn't follow you everywhere you go then you should pick up the phone and schedule an exam with your family doctor. This song pops in my head randomly throughout my days. Also, during moments when I'm stressed out and have a million different projects to finish or sometimes even during sex when I'm trying to hold off on an orgasm. I'm a machine. I'm a machine. I'm a machine.

"Glass Lux - New Sample Vid"

Our friend Fonze of Perfect Kiss and Emily Morse have started a new side project called Glass Lux. So far from what I have seen of this new venture has been pure gold. With a fresh synth-pop sound, simple and slick beats, and some really top notch vocals Glass Lux seems to be makin’ some sweet new choons here. Reminds me of the older real emotional and moody electro I’ve come to love. Good work people and keep the hits comin’. - Custom Vibes

Bio

Glass Lux formed in October 2010 when producer/DJ Alfonso Mayen met vocalist Emily Morse. Alfonso started playing and writing music at a young age, Djing and producing music through the years. Emily, a Chicago transplant from Okemos, MI, had fronted many bands in her hometown but was looking for something more unique to showcase her vocal style. She reached out to  Fonz, and the resulting project led to a slick dance-and-synth-heavy sound showcasing Fonz's catchy production and Emily's hauntingly mature voice. Glass Lux is a duo but plays live as a trio with a session drummer. Last year Fonz helped produce the beat for the well known song "Back to Black" by Amy Winehouse covered by Andre 3000 and Beyonce for the release of The Great Gatsby.
