Lyrics

Scarlet Dress

Written By: Michael Turvin

I held you close we danced real slow
I smelled your hair where a garden grows,
Of love-lies-bleeding, lavender and rose

Did you bat your eyes or you lick your lips?
Were you surprised that I couldn't resist?
It was the temptress kiss, your Coquettishness, heaven knows.
Nothing lasts forever i suppose.

Oh, we put it in the ground
I don't know whatever happened to that old desire
You called me your so I called you mine
Possession murdered love, oh my

So drop your scarlet dress by the alter side
For the sin we'll make a sacrifice
Oh my demi monde, oh my courtesan, i'll be your slave

Call me libertine, or call me a rake,
but don't ya call me thief I never take it unoffered
So don't tell me how it's gonna be
Because i buried love beneath the willow tree.

Oh, we put it in the ground
I don't know whatever happened to that old desire
when you called me yours I called you mine
Possesion murdered love oh my

Higher Ground

Written By: Michael Turvin

When your lost and can't be found
When you troubles come pouring down
In the flood just look to me
I'll be there to lead you to higher ground

Though my body lies in the earth
A light shines on, and i shall traverse
The darkest night
The wildest sea
And be there to lead you to higher ground

When your life has reached it's end
And death has beaten your best defense
I'll be there upon my steed
And I will lead you to higher ground

Until then please remember me
And I will come when your in need
Right by your side
I'll forever be
And I will lead you to higher ground

Bed So Cold

Written By: Michael Turvin

Red tail lights from a blue sedan
Fade into the night
I'm a sensitive man
Can't help but cry when i get to feeling down
Don't you think it's enough to keep me comin around

Love's gonna come home and comfort me
Oh, I wait for the day makin believe I'm free
Time is on my side, hell, I ain't so old
But I'll be sleeping tonight in a bed so cold

Well she wasn't the first to say that she couldn't stand
All of my ramblin ways - I'm in a country band
Yes the songs are slow and mostly sad
But don't you worry for me
It really ain't so bad

Love's gonna come home and comfort me
Oh, I wait for the day makin believe I'm free
Time is on my side, hell, I ain't so old
But I'll be sleeping tonight in a bed so cold

Fall

Written By: Michael Turvin

Feel I'm dancing on a cloud
Laughing just for fun
Carried by my wings of gold
They shimmer in the sun
Only so much time i know
The Earth it seems so far below
And Lord I'm afraid I'm gonna fall

Don't tell me it's time to go When I have just begun
You'll have to drag me out or here
Take away my guns
Noonday, Sun is rising high
I raise my eyes up to the sky
So afraid it's gonna fall

Things are coming to an end
The moon is riding low
Closing time is close at hand
The sky has lost it's glow
Got my wings so I can fly
Just don't let me soar too high
Cause I know I'm bound to fall

Cleopatra

Written By: Michael Turvin

A kingdom crumbled where once I sat upon a throne
Now I'm humbled but there was a time I didn't mind being alone

It's not like I need you
Not like i can't get by
Still I sit here crying
I'm looking for an answer
I know how you did it, Baby
Just don't know why

Cleopatra
Oh the siren sings
Cleopatra
She's got that voice so sweet
to make slaves out of kings

Still I wake with you, Darlin though your not by my side
And every morning comes with a sting
Something to do with pride

Should've seen it coming
Should've known better when you mentioned love
But you beaconed me with a song so sweet
I fell prey to all you witchery
Now i can't get enough

Cleopatra
Oh the siren sings
Cleopatra
She's got that voice so sweet
to make slaves out of kings

Higher Ground

When you're lost
And can't be found
When your troubles
Come pouring down
In the flood
Just look to me
I'll be there to lead you to higher ground

Though my body lies in the earth
A light shine on and I shall traverse
The darkest night
The wildest sea
And be there to lead you to higher ground

When your life
Has reached its end
And death has beaten
Your best defense
I'll be there
Upon my steed
And I will lead you to higher ground

Until then please remember me
And I will come when you're in need
Right by your side
I'll forever be
Always to lead you to higher ground
