Glenn Buhr & The Button Factory Band

Glenn Buhr is a singer/songwriter and guitarist/pianist; a powerful performer of his own music.

Music lovers will remember him as front man – with conductor Bramwell Tovey – of Winnipeg’s New Music Festival.   He’s well traveled as a composer, having written music on commission for orchestras, ballet companies, choirs, classical soloists, and string quartets from all over the world.

He has toured Canada twice as a jazz artist, and he’s also performed his own piano concerto with the Esprit Orchestra and the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra.  His full-length ballet, Beauty and the Beast, has toured The UK five times, and Asia three times.

Buhr’s songs and performances are an eclectic and imaginative mix of vintage blues/roots music, lyrical songs, and sound art.  The Button Factory Band – the current incarnation of his active imagination – is a 4-piece folk/art-rock band, made up of some of the finest creative musicians in southwestern Ontario.  The band is the vehicle for Buhr’s recent music: a collection of original songs full of vivid imagery and inventive sound painting.  Glenn Buhr also tours with an unplugged version of the band – duo and trio – based in Winnipeg.

All of the band members are composers, excellent singers and virtuoso instrumentalists who are dedicated to innovative music.  The band’s live concerts are exciting, highly energized, and often wildly unpredictable, mixing Buhr’s precisely arranged songs with pure improvisation.
