WHITSETT JAM
Commonheart singer Clinton Clegg counts himself a big fan of The Glenn Strother Project, a jam-rock band led by the former frontman for Jazzam, Arkesh and The ChopShop.
The Glenn Strother Project flashes its fusion-y funk/jazz chops in a major fashion on the new album “Whitsett Boogaloo.” Strother had reached out to Soulive drummer Alan Evans to play on the record, but he ended up co-producing instead.
Strother says the instrumental album, named for his hometown in Fayette County, is “kind of an ode back to when I was a kid and learning to play — that kind of material, the boogaloo funk is what exposed to, sort of like James Brown jazz.”
The vinyl is in stores now and it hits streaming services on Wednesday. - Pittsburgh Post Gazette
