Bio

Glissando* was born in 1999 as one of the first projects to explore indie-pop in Catalan. They quickly began to receive recognition for their work and were awarded the first prize in pop-rock category in the Èxit song contest of 2000, organised by the Catalan Radio and Television Corporation, as well as runners-up in the Enderrock 2000 music demo selection contest, performing at the Mercat de Música Viva de Vic.

In spring of 2001, they are contacted by Ariadna Records, interested in their project and offering them the chance to record their first album in July of the same year. The result is an album which is considered to be a true revelation by the specialised press, surprised by their characteristic sound and by the amount of personality the group transmits through their music. Extremely personal indie music, at the time highly unique in the musical panorama of Catalonia. They exhibit a style of music characterised by the warm guitar harmonies of guitarist Marc Sora and the premeditatedly simple yet clever lyrics which are tenderly interpreted by singer Laia Vaqué. This first album was named one of the top five of the year in the awards handed out by the Catalan music review magazine Enderrock.

In December, 2002, they release their second album with the name of “Marclaianortomarcoh”. Produced by Jordi Gasull and recorded in the studio of Ariadna Records, the album contains twelve songs which present a step-up in quality. Alongside Aquitamxé, one of their songs is selected for the compilation “Spain: the best songs ever”, edited in Australia and which has sold over 100,000 copies, world-wide, confirming Glissando* as the most exportable Catalan group on the market.

In 2005 they reentered the studio to record their third album “Surplus”, with producer/dj/Spanish pop icon Miqui Puig behind the scenes, taking the group in a new direction with melodies which are perfectly tailored to the heart and soul of Glissando*. Many consider “Surplus” to be a giant leap forward which the Catalan music scene had been craving for quite some time. Enriched with edgy and complex sounds, it has undoubtedly become one of the most important references for the latest generation of the Catalan pop scene.

They are currently promoting their fourth studio album, "Records del Futur" produced by Miqui Puig and released in the fall of 2009. This album was presented on October 9th at the Apolo in Barcelona.
