Glover / Grenn

John Grenn, began his journey into music at a young age, being fascinated with it as a child. John began taking up Bass Guitar and soon after, began playing in local Bands in his home town of Guelph Ontario Canada. From there he became increasingly fascinated with Electronic Music, inspired by influences of the day such as Jean Michelle Jarre, Howard Jones, New Order, Depeche Mode etc. He began writing original music, with a high school friend who owned a few Synths. Starting on 4 Track cassette recorder and quickly graduating to 16 track studio’s where John honed his early skills in Songwriting, Audio Engineering & Production. In 1987, John started Studies at Canada’s premier Audio Recording School, OIART in London Ontario Canada, where he graduated in the top 3 of the 1988 Class.

From there, John went on to manage his own Professional Recording Studio and there, teamed up with then client, Brad Ferringo of the Yakoo Boys. John & Brad went on to generate a number of tracks together that had significant commercial success (1995 – 98 – “Pipe Dreamz, Calling, Now That I Found You etc.” which were charting and receiving national airplay, in Canada, in addition to being featured on many notable compilations and single sales success. Additionally, they were commissioned to do remixes for the likes of Whigfield (“I Want Your Love” Yakoo Boyz Remix) and others. Along with the attention and exposure, came numerous live performances and appearances, including the top Dance Music Festivals of the day and feature performances on TV (Much Music and others).

Meanwhile, in Tampa Florida, a young bright DJ is developing his skills, playing the clubs of the Tampa area…enter DJ Paul Glover, who started DJ’ing when he was 15 years old. He took his Christmas and birthday money and bought two Newmark turntables, a mixer, a set of PA speakers and much to his parents displeasure, jammed away in his bedroom, honing his fundamental spinning skills. Tapping into the latest tracks of the day, Paul would bring back fresh music from Florida to Canada and create mix tapes for his friends to enjoy. Things progressed fast and Paul began playing house parties, school dances and club’s, refining his mixing and live performance skills…

After a considerable hiatus from music, the two now friends decided to get back at it and formed the Canadian House Music Act, Glover / Grenn, in late 2011. After spending several months at the beginning of 2012 getting themselves ready, Glover / Grenn began to work on their first Commercial Album Release in June of 2012, “The Journey Begins” (Hard Love Records), which was released in January of 2013 (available on iTunes).

2013 has been off to a fantastic start for the duo having Album Tracks “US” & “Up On This” receive regular rotation on Galaxie Music – Your Musical Universe, Canada Wide (Cable & Satellite Streaming Channel). Additionally, DJ Paul Glover played at Mumak in Ibiza as well as several appearances at The Purple Room in Waterloo. Hard Love Records, Glover / Grenn’s own Label (founded in 2012 by John Grenn & Paul Glover) was recently added as an Official Label on Beatport, the worlds most prestigious storefront for Electronic Music.

Glover / Grenn are always busy working hard on new material and have released 8 new Original Tracks already in 2013 (available on Beatport). Watch out for Glover / Grenn as these guys are incredibly versatile and will stop at nothing, to make great Music.
