"High Times best unsigned band"

http://www.hightimes.com/ht/home/index.php?page=bow_103006

Glynis began in the early days of 2005 as a collective of musicians known as Music with Notes featuring Jay Miller (Guitar) Nathan Penney (Drums) Chad Nilsson (Guitar) and Dave Sepesy (Bass). Over the course of the next few months there would be several member changes and Music with Notes would become a 3-piece instrumental rock band known as Glynis.

From Late 2005 to late 2006 the 3-piece Glynis featuring Jake Mercieca (Lead Guitar) Jay Miller (Guitar/keys) and Nathan Penney (Drums) would stay very busy. In February 2006 their debut EP was released and they began to build a fan base in the Michigan area. Summer 2006 led to a tour with good friend and now current member of the Glynis line-up, Dear Dead City (John Torkelson) taking Glynis from Michigan to South Carolina and back.

The sound of Glynis is a sound of its own. It borrows bits and pieces from the music that motivated these Michigan kids to create such beautiful sounds. The rhythm and heartfelt tone of the Smashing Pumpkins meets the indie sensibility of Pavement with a twist of the apocalyptic roar of Mogwai.

The debut self titled full-length from Glynis is due out March 2007 and they hope to be on the road for the better part of the year.

Glynis is:

Jay Miller - Guitar/Keys
Jake Mercieca - Lead Guitar

Bio

Glynis is an instrumental indie rock band from Northern Michigan.

Glynis started in the early months of 2005 as a five piece consisting of 2 guitarists (Jay Miller, Chad Nilsson), a drummer (Nate Penney) a bassist (Dave Sepesy) and a celloist (Chad Dzingleski). Over the course of the following months several members were not able to pass the test of time. In July of 2005 Glynis became a 3 piece without a bassist. In Jan 2006 they released their self titled EP and followed up with a tour to support it in June of the same year. Currenty Glynis is a 4 piece project and it looks like thats how its going to stay . Glynis is currently working on their debut full length at the Chicago Recording Company with Dave Riely and plan on relocating the Chicago area in June.
