G. Mark Weston

"Two years ago I was standing on top of a newly constructed apartment building - still just a concrete frame. I distinctly remember looking across the city from that point on the roof and from that point of time. I drove by the building the other day, now fully inhabited, and I remembered that day. Since then I've busted down barriers and have gotten over things that I never thought I'd get to at such a young age. I got totally ripped apart and built myself back up; there's no doubt I am a better human being for it." This is Mark Weston, every inch honest and every inch an artist. Mark Weston has been playing guitar and belting out his heart with his mighty voice in the K/W area for seven years. The cherub-faced troubadour has consistently entertained and compelled audiences with his emotive delivery of his strikingly personal songs. Combining the vocal power of Roger Daltrey with the lyrical tenderness and introspection of Jeff Buckley, Weston offers a purging at every show. An often published poet, a painter, an innovative black and white photographer, and a great carpenter, Mark has many outlets for what he needs to release. Known for his intensity (in conversation as well as in song), Mark has led a tragic and confused life until recently. According to Weston, "After my Father died I had nobody as a male role model for a couple of years and then one day I see this guy with as much fire in his eyes as my old man had. He say me play and the first thing he said to my was,' I don't know what you are doing for the rest of your life but it better be making music.'"
