Nadia Duncan and Teneka Chiles come together to form the Charlotte based R&B duo, GNEISS (pronounced “nice”). The Greenville, SC natives met during high school and later attended Winthrop University in South Carolina to pursue degrees in Education. Upon graduation, the best friends and roommates began their careers in teaching. Independently, both had a love for music since early childhood. Nadia, born May 29th, has been singing while competing in local pageants. Teneka, born May 25th, started in church choirs. However, it was not until their college years when they discovered their shared passion for music.

The opportunity to pursue music professionally came when Nadia auditioned for Versatyle Entertainment, an independent record label. She was selected and immediately began working as a background vocalist for an upcoming project. As the project progressed, another vocalist was needed. It was then that Nadia introduced Teneka to the Versatyle “family”. Although the initial project was later discontinued, the label executives were so impressed with the immense talent of the dynamic twosome,they decided to sign them as a duo.

GNEISS has a signature musical style that is sure to set them apart from other acts. Their fusion of R&B and contemporary hip-hop mixed with soulful vocal styling has a mass crossover appeal. Their captivating chemistry is distinctive in their rich and smooth harmonies. The two are also gifted songwriters, which is notably apparent in the lyrical content of their self-titled debut project, “GNEISS”.

The upcoming CD will showcase their versatile ranges switching from up-tempo tracks to soul-stirring ballads and features new innovative on-the-rise producers. The CD promises and delivers something for everyone. The subject matter ranges from emotional stages of relationships to just having fun with the girls. “Trippin” is a hypnotic pulsating track sure to become a club staple with its’ infectious and flirty lyrics about falling for someone at first sight. "Shake My Thang" is a explosive rock-fused party banger and solid ladies anthem about chillin' at the club without any drama. Another standout cut, the edgy yet rich and sensual ballad, "How Could You”, is sure to demand some attention. With powerful emotional phrasing, GNEISS takes another “heartbreak” song and transforms it into something that’s very much all their own.
