“Russ Grissom and H. Scott Hill are the core of Grissom Hill and with the input of Michael Clark and Russell Lincoln the sound becomes complete. This Hill Country foursome brings their rock, alt-rock, and country influences to the table in their debut offering "OVERTIME." This baker's dozen release includes tracks written by Grissom, Hill, and the pair as well. This is not your typical band that caters to beer-bongers and gin-guzzlers. While there are tunes that make them popular on the club scene, this is more heady stuff. There's an intellectual feel to many of the cuts and the occasional suite-styled epic that can come only from being totally focused on creating artful music.
Hill handles most of the vocal work and his voice is ranged and diverse. Calling on multiple influences, Hill ranges from the eerie baritone to the hard-driving alto with ease.
This is a great first offering from a group with surprising talent. Stephen Meyer's production is noteworthy in parts, and while Meyer is capable of stellar productions, I think the band may have more in them than he was able to extract. He does maintain masterful flow on a disc that could be tricky with its diversity. Great performances by the sit-ins including Robert Tristan, Sue Ann Meyer, and Ron Browning.
I was intrigued by this disc. It spoke to me in a way no other disc has in quite some time. It was comfortable to listen to even when I wasn't focusing on the lyrics. Speaking of which, Grissom's lyrics are poignant and timeless while Hill's lyrics lean toward life experiences, particularly relationships. A good mix, they give the album its diverse corners. I predict you will hear much from this group. Here are the first thirteen cuts. Get them today!”

"" Who Cares " Review"

The sophomore release from Hill Country darlings Grissomhill is a testament to their pursuit of perfection and individuality. Bands can only hope that their second project compares to the first…”WHO CARES?” will definitely catapult these guys into the top ranks of entertaining Texas bands! The CD is such an easy listen – their lyrical style is finally settling into a groove that is, in my humble opinion, unlike anything else out there. I imagine the perfect romantic date would involve either taking in a live Grissomhill show, or at least having this CD playing in the background…the music is THAT enjoyable. Switching between roadhouse rock and Americana ballads, they cover all the musical bases with incredible ease. Their diversity is sharply honed, and their musicianship is off the charts. Scott Hill’s warm, buttery voice is perfectly suited for their original music, as is the excellent guitar work by Russ Grissom, Michael Clark, and Robert Tristan, and Russell Lincoln’s percussion. It’s all peppered exactly where it needs to be, without being overbearing. Too many times, egos exist in bands, and it usually comes through in the recording (i.e., unnecessary screaming guitar) – so it’s quite refreshing to hear what happens when band members genuinely respect one another’s talents. My personal favorites are “Hollow”, and the sexy guitar work on “Time For Goodbye”, and it was tough to even single those two songs out because they’re ALL excellent. Hats off to Grissomhill, who are gradually making their musical mark on the Lone Star state…believe me, this CD has “What It Takes” to make these guys a “Legend” in “Texas Music” and leave you “Begging For More”! “Who Cares?” WE DO!

Bio

Grissom and Hill are two guys that have an extended history built by much more than music. As college roomates they discovered similarities that created an indestructable bond and a friendship that has seen many changes both good and bad. Along the way they always find time to write music and perform no matter what the cost or what obstacles stand in their way.

Their musical journey began in Wichita Falls, Texas until the year 2000, when Russ Grissom moved to New Braunfels, Texas. Based out of New Braunfels, Grissom and Hill put their songwriting skills to good use and created their first album "Overtime" under the name "Grissomhill". Two years later they followed with a second called "Who Cares". They performed many shows across the state promoting their first two recordings and built a strong following that still remains.

In 2008, Russ Grissom made another move that would land him in Burnet, Texas. Because of the difficulties with travel, family and day jobs, "Grissomhill" disbanded and the music took a neceassary rest. After a year break, Grissom began writing new material and knew that the project would be impossible without his friend Scott Hill. In early 2011, Russ Grissom and Scott Hill finished their third release called "Bridge" under the name "Grissom And Hill" and plan to continue thier love for writing, recording and performing music. So if you enjoy original rock music with a unique twist and sophistication, check out Grissom And Hill. You won't be disappointed.
