GNOMON

Carlos Ribeiro and Tiago Machado started this adventure in 2003, taking from the beginning and as a rule a completely disrespect for any music borders. The traditional Portuguese music, jazz, the erudite colorings, or the maps of a wide world are characteristics of they own sound that has won them applause across the taste spectrum. The mixing of electronic and acoustic textures also allow the Gnomon sound to reach a more universal breath as a result of the imagetic nature of their music: the sonic landscapes they create may evoke the green of the northern Portuguese forest or the white sands of the African desert. On their debut album they have important collaborations such as Toca a Rufar or the Ensemble de Gaitas de Foles de Vigo. But it’s their own and very modern ideas that occupy the center of the stage and that make up the magical personality of the music they offer.
