Bio

It is at 13 that G’Ny enters the French West Indian music scene with a participation to a singing contest called « La pwent aux étoiles» created by Freddy Marshall, musician and producer of Joelle Ursull, Tanya Saint-Val and Kassav among others. She confirms her talent in 1998 when opening for Passi at Centre des Arts of Pointe-à-Pitre with local hip hop crew La Horde Noire. A number of collaborations with various artists of her generation follow including Tiwony in 2000 after which G’Ny releases her first single that becomes a success within the community.

The young lady definitely settles in the music landscape in 2003 with « Doum Doum », one of the main singles of Admiral T’s first album Mozaik Kreyol. She follows the international tour, performing on stages such as Zenith de Paris opening for Sean Paul in 2004, Olympia in 2006 and even in Dakar. Looking forward to expending her experience, G’Ny tries for the first French West Indian musical untitled la Rue Zabym. Casted for the main role, she appears on numerous local and national scenes – including Palais des Congrès – from 2004 to 2008 in this show which brings 20 000 viewers the first year in Guadeloupe.

Throughout the years and the experience, G’Ny’s personality and musical identity sharpen up as she builds her own repertoire. Her first single Peyi Mwen is released in 2010. This title allows her to present her songs on various stages from France to Canada not forgetting of course the French West Indies. She participates to the Sacem concert in Guadeloupe as well as to Francofolies de la Rochelle. As she continues preparing her first album, G’Ny releases in 2011 the track Fanm-Isi, a tibute to women, followed by a remix featuring Admiral T in March 2012.

At 28, G’Ny is seen as one of the most promising artists of her generation. She lays in a genuine way at the crossing of traditional and urban music. Scheduled for the fall of 2012, her album is composed of the fusion of her multiple influences mixing Caribbean rythms with soul, reggae and hip hop beats. A music matching her personality – bold, anchored in her Caribbean roots and opened to the world.
