GODDARD Forth One Fringe

The crowd wanted funk and GODDARD delivered with endless reserves of energy, crowd interaction and seamless playing.

GODDARD kept the audience grooving for the impressively long hour and forty-five minute set. The band; consisted of Bass, Guitar, Drums, Trumpet, Trombone with Jeremy Goddard on Keyboard and Vocals, hailed from all over the world, but they were slick in their togetherness. They relied on the audience, and each other, to maintain the momentum and create that funky vibe. There was the opportunity for each musician to show off a bit; a real highlight was the improvising stand off between the Trumpet and the Trombone demonstrating just how funky this brass section really was, and the audience loved it! Playing a good mix of originals and inspired covers, such as Stevie Wonder’s “Superstition” and Prince’s “Kiss”’, Jeremy kept the “groovy ladies” enraptured as he consistently oozed energy and funk from every pore and engaged in direct eye contact and banter with every audience member. This guy’s confidence arose from a love of the music, never arrogance, proved by the fact he approached individual crowd members after the set to chat about how much he enjoyed playing. Go see some funk, GODDARD will not disappoint.

"BONGO IN THE MOOD AS GODDARD GET IN A FUNK"

“…with strength in every department and a singer who is a joy to listen to.”

“A top-quality voice, great stage presence and he plays very accomplished and funky keyboards too!”

“Goddard play rootsy funk with a little disco thrown in, some are their own numbers and some are covers and at times it was hard to tell which were which, such is the quality of their song construction.”

"D.J. YOGI HAUGHTON"

"…Goddard have been festooned with kudos over the past year…[&] has won praise for his silky smooth singing skills and, most importantly his blistering keyboard workouts. He’s already been compared with Prince and Stevie Wonder- pretty fast company!” - EDINBURGH EVENING NEWS, JUNE 14TH 2001

"GODDARD"

“ A member of the Musician’s Union since the age of 15, Bristol-born Jeremy spent his late teens playing jazz piano in restaurants, eventually taking a year out after his A-Levels to record and promote some self-penned material. After a year of solid gigging (including the odd wedding), the budding star enrolled at Edinburgh University and immediately instigated a search for talented local musicians. Eventually the nascent band secured the services of Paul Mills, whose resume reads like a soul Who’s Who (Chaka Khan, George Benson and The Average White Band). What’s more, trombonist and arranger Chris Greive (Scottish National Jazz Orchestra), has shared stages with legends such as Ray Charles and James Brown.”

“…spreading their crowd-pleasing brand of slick-as-treacle soul…”

“…Goddard’s solid, showbiz professionalism, not to mention their undeniable proficiency, could trumpet them into the mainstream in no time at all…” - METRO - Scotland, July 13th, 2001

Bio

English piano playing singer-songwriter Jeremy Goddard specializes in edgy brit-soul-funk-pop. He has been living in the East Village for nearly 3 years performing all over New York City including:

* Sold out show in the Knitting Factory's Tap Bar.

* Downtown Wednesday night East Village residency at the beautiful, cozy and chic jazz joint Rue-B, between 11th & 12th on Ave.B. In the past 18 months the ZAGAT rating for the bar has risen from a 21 to 27 making it the '#1 bar in the East Village', especially in the ambience and entertainment category. The crowd that come in every Wednesday has been building steadily and have always come back for more.

* Fronted bands for New York's biggest function agency HANK LANE as a singer performing in the grand ballrooms of venues such as The Waldorf-Astoria, The New York Plaza, The Rainbow Room at The Rockefeller Centre, 40 Wall Street and the numerous Cipriani halls.

* Numerous showcases of original songs @ The Sugar Bar, Uptown on 72nd Street, for legends Nik Ashford & Valerie Simpson. Regular fixture at their Thursday R&B open mic night recently featured in Billboard magazine as a place to see new songwriting talent.

In the United Kingdom he has run a 6 to 10 piece band called 'GODDARD', which is a groove based vehicle for his original material, for over 5 years and in that time they played well over 400 shows including:

* Five-star-rated (*****) headline shows at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the world's largest performing arts festival, in August of both 2003 and 2005 at the Underbelly.

"The Underbelly is one of the festival's funkiest venues..." (The Daily Star)

* Murrayfield Stadium to help celebrate the Queen's Golden Jubilee in 2002 in front of 36,000 people.

Now starting a new chapter in the story and that began with the inception of a new band for touring work in the U.S. and the imminent release of a debut album in the fall.

The versatility of the act, and material, means that they are just as comfortable playing a full on rocking dance set or a stripped back, intimate acoustic performance.

Availiable for both solo and full-band shows.

Perfect for any venue.
