Bio

God Given Ass are a five-piece punk rock band from Kallio, Helsinki, Finland.

Most of the band members have a history involving other acts: Otto (vocs) fronted the rock band Tehosekoitin (1991-2004) and it's English language incarnation The Screamin' Stukas (2000-2004). Marika (gtr) and Reeta (bass) formerly performed with pin-up horror rockers The Patsy Walkers (2003-2008; now active again for some gigs), while Niila (drs) banged the skins for hardcoremongers Lighthouse Project since they started in 2004 until he left the band in 2007. (Niila is now also active in bands like Frontside Führer and Boredom Boys; check them out)! Pyry is the only one with no previous band history, if one is not to mention his early career in Fist Fukk, a band that never made it to the rehearsal place.

GGA started as a brainchild of Marika and Reeta, and the rest of the line-up formed out quite effortlessly as we already were drinking buddies at our "local", Kallion Seurahuone. We started rehearsing and writing songs in the summer of 2008, and after trying five different drummers found just the right guy for the job; Niila joined in in October, only a week before the first gig at Vastavirta-klubi in Tampere - and two weeks before the recording of our first demo, which eventually became our four track debut 7" EP "Was I Really There?" (released through Monsp Records in February 2009). Since the EP is nowadays sold out, all the songs can be heard on our MySpace site.

Our tastes and influences in music are wide and varied, but the main focus of GGA is on fast, fun and furious punk rock.
