When you come out of Detroit, you tend to come out guns blazing. Alice Cooper, MC5, The Stooges and the ‘Nuge —these guys paved a hard rock road out of the Motor City with blood, sweat, more blood, and lots of scathing, feral and electrifying music. In recent years, there have been those who embraced the rawness of these elder statesmen and those who opted for a more highly produced brand of rock. White Stripes and Kid Rock stand on opposite sides of the spectrum, with Gods Made Love falling somewhere in between. The band cranks out melodic, hooky rock with gutter guitars and driving rhythms, mostly reminiscent of STP. Tim Furlong’s delivery is strident and edgy, even when the music is veering towards pop (See: Crashing Angelina). On the skittering groove “Bomb,” the reverse is true. Kiss-off guitars clang and crash and have you thinking it’s a just a snotty, catchy-as-hell rocker. But then the chorus kicks in and all of a sudden it’s 1960. Furlong delivers a soaring, Beatles-esque vocal harmony while thrashing a tambourine like he’s Herman or one of his Hermits. It’s a tightly packed little number that showcases a lot of Gods Made Love’s strengths. Fans of vintage Brit-rock and glamour grunge will dig the way these guys kick out the jams. - Published by Kate B

“GODS MADE LOVE” is a hot new rock n’ roll band out of Detroit with a sultry sexy rock vibe reminiscent of all the good things that made you want to listen to music in the first place. With influences as varied as early “Brit Pop” and the heaviest of led ballons, all the way to current post grunge artists burning up the radio, Tim Furlong (vocals) and Don Scarsella (guitar) began working together to write high quality songs after their former bands, Somethin’ Wild and Romeo Rock, disbanded in 1995. (Romeo Rock was a 1990 AND 1991 National Yamaha Soundcheck/John Lennon Contest finalist band…2 out of 20,000 entrants…2 Years in a row. Somethin Wild was the winner of multiple Local WRIF radio contests, and was the US band trapped in Russia during the revolution in 1990.) The Gods Made Love song ‘Velvet Baby’ was a Musician Magazine 1999 top 100 unsigned artist song, as well as burning up indie websites like ‘garageband.com’, a well known site for finding and judging unsigned artists, with the song topping out 1 in March 2003. (All-time ranking: 750 of 20,800 in Pop Rock Best, 1 of 17,452 on 20Mar2003) That is 4 National awards, and songs that actually have lasting power.
After changing names a few times, the lineup was solidified in Feb 2009, when Drummer/Songwriter Pete Cee joined the group. Pete’s history included playing with Major Artists Don Dokken and Gloria Estefan, as well as touring with ‘The Vibe’ and ‘Dollar Hyde’.
In November 2009, they started writing and recording new Gods Made Love material, and immediately, the band again took off like a missile. Still in the studio preparing a late 2011 full length release guaranteed to contain tunes with a wide range in emotional scope…From a feather falling on the moon all the way to the detonation of tactical thermo nuclear device.
