$igned, $ealed & Delivered (2004)
BackAlley Entertainment

Feeling a bit camera shy

A monumental event took place on February 18, 1978. GodZchild was born in La Mesa, California with a gift that would lead him to BackAlley Entertainment and eventually to to the top of the world after years of knocking out the competition on the battle rap scene.

Born Bryon Kelley, the grandson of the great Jazz musician and composer, Charles Kelley, music has always moved GC to the beat of his own drum and hot new style. In the early years, the rhythm manifested itself through GC as poetry which eventually evolved into full rap songs.

After realizing ripping the mic was second nature, he joined forces with his life long friend, Horizon (Tarnell Reed) and formed ‘New Beginning.’ The group’s hit’s were instant crowd pleasers that rocked the local rap battle scene where GC cultivated and perfected his flow. Naturally, the star outgrew the scene and began searching for options to expand his skill and opportunities.

The love for his art and ultimate frustration with stagnant peers fueled GC’s journey for production options on his level. Looking for a self contained production team where he, rightfully so, is the writer and performer, a maestro would produce the beats, and a killer vocalist would lay the hooks, he formed a group in 2002. They called themselves Verbal Mechanics. Though talented, the group lacked exactly what GC was trying to permanently be a part of. He moved on. Meeting Sunshine of Sunshinez Productions, GC once again gave someone the opportunity to discover a true star of the rap scene. Once again, another company failed meet the expectations of a rising star. He moved on. The list goes on, ending with his last attempt to join other aspiring artists to break into the industry as a camp. They called themselves Platinum Diamonds. Ill skills and talent aren’t enough to drive a group to success if heart and soul is not there every step of the way. The group was inches away from a major recording contract with featured artists Spice-1 and T-Trell. But with GC being the only giving his all combined with the shady nature of this industry, the demise of Platinum Diamonds could not be avoided.

Cream always rises to the top and GC is damn sure the cream of the rap crop. He kept his feet moving until in 2004 he was introduced to the owner of BackAlley Entertainment who is known for mixing the hot sh*t and mastering a flavor that is all his own. Finally, a combination that was sure to start a blazing fire with blazing raps over blazing tracks until GC’s solo album is “Signed, Sealed & Delivered.” Its only right that’s the name of his album. GodZChild could have stopped when others from his troop fell off. But with lyrics and a flow moving through this Rapping Phenomenon, he could never forget that “We are here for a second and gone in a minute.” Why waste time?
