Biography

Regina was born and raised in Maywood, IL, a suburb of Chicago. At the tender age of 10, Regina was trained on the classical violin and played through her high school years. In addition to classical music, she was also exposed to jazz, blues and country music. Her father, Eugene Owen Thomas, was a self-taught saxophonist, teaching his children music appreciation at a very young age. It was commonplace for the Thomas siblings to watch music programs such as “The Lawrence Welk Show”, PBS’ “Evening AtThe Pops”, “The Hee Haw Show” and “The Andy Williams Show” – a huge contribution to her diverse writing abilities.

As a teen, Regina would find ways to work through her emotions by writing poetry. For entertainment, she would often take the words from her favorite songs and add her own lyrics. It would be several years later that she would discover her ability for creating complex melodies which would accompany her lyrics.

Although Regina was raised with a strong spiritual foundation with Christian beliefs, she also has a deep appreciation for all types of music, which has influenced her as a songwriter. Regina infuses the sounds R&B, jazz, gospel and country into her work.

One of her accomplishments was receiving the finalist award for the John Lennon Songwriting Contest (New York, NY) an international songwriting competition. Her song “I Believe” placed in the Gospel/Inspirational music category. “I was simply thrilled to have won a songwriting award for the JLSC contest, this year earmarked the 25th anniversary of John Lennon’s death. I felt honored to be connected with such a prolific and hugely talented singer-songwriter-performer.”

In 2010, Regina contributed her musical talents to the film documentary “On the Frontline: Taking Back Our Streets”, produced and directed by Grace Boyz Productions, which received the Black Harvest Film Festival's Audience Award.

Regina has contributed music for several recording projects, including Living Word Christian Center (Big Joe Records), DuPage AME Church, The Anointed Harvesters Productions (“The Dinner Party”). It was through these music projects that doors would open for her to work with some of Chicago’s finest producers, including Morris “Butch” Stewart (The Oprah Winfrey Show, Tom Joyner Morning Show), John King (Manifested Works Studios) and Aundre Miller (Nashville/Los Angeles Recording Studios).

Determined to have control her own destiny, Regina formed her own publishing company, Go Gee! Music, Inc. In order to keep herself positioned for success, she continuously to develop and shape her craft by attending workshops and collaborating with other songwriters and music producers. As far as her future aspirations, Regina knows the sky is the limit. She would like to continue utilizing her talents and abilities to work with artists and producers she has admired and respected over the years. She is currently producing music for stage productions and looking forward to contributing her work to the film industry.
