Producer and engineer Dion “LIVE!” Smith is ready. Ready to share his unique and undeniable bounce with the world while also making his permanent stamp on the music industry. He is establishing his trademark sound by taking the steps to take his place at the top of the music industry as one its most sought-after music producers. This is his destiny—he has already claimed it. Coming from a family of musicians and singers, his interest in music developed at an early age. It was not until his tenure as a college student that LIVE! discovered his knack for producing music. During his college years, he nurtured relationships with individuals who would later play key roles in helping to shape his sound and music career. LIVE!’s initial encounter with a drum machine was the Roland MC505 in less than 24 hours he created his first beat and started his quest for greatness. He later purchased the Akai MPC2000XL, only to discover that it did not come with any sounds. LIVE! spent several days learning all of the screens on the machine and once he got a hold of his family’s extensive record collection, began chopping and searching for sounds and loops the foundation for LIVE!’s sound was born.
LIVE! is sure that being a producer is his ultimate calling, “I produce because it is the only thing on this planet I can do where time stands still and I flat out enjoy every moment of it.”

After a decade in the game, LIVE! has produced, recorded and helped to release multiple mixtapes and albums, while working with numerous artists. His creativity, passion, and dedication to his skill is unmatched; from relocating to the San Francisco area to receive formal training in music engineering to teaching himself how to play the piano and spending endless days and nights in the studio banging out beats and mixing down tracks. LIVE! is not only ready, but also focused. His work ethic is like non-other. LIVE! has a sound that consists of melodic strings accompanied by hard drums. The rising producer and Chicago native defines his sound in one word—LIVE! LIVE! describes his creativity as colors: kicks are red, snares are orange, hi-hats are red- orange, synths are shades of green, and he tends to see the artist, whether singer or rapper, in various hues of blue due to them being the final instrument/ color to touch the track/ canvas. Once LIVE! determines an artist’s color, he instantly knows what other shades he wants to surround them with. Then with his canvas set, he paints.
