""The Golden Butter Band""

The Golden Butter Band (GBB for short) churn reggea, ska and indie rock into a unique and varied, genre-blending sound that's designed to get you dancing. Their songs jump between melodies with a delightfully abrupt and wild abandon.

GBB have spent the last five years cultivating their fan base by relentlessly playing small shows up and down the Shenandoah Valley. The band was formed in 2005 by a group of childhood friends: Rick Batka (guitar), Willy Matthews (acoustic guitar and lead vocals), Cameron Gorman (bass), and brothers Alex Kerns (electric guitar) and Riley Kerns (drums). They're currently touring in support of their 5-track EP, "Aren't We All?", a solid follow-up to their full-length debut, "Welcome". Every track shows off the GBB's glorious melody shifts and danceable grooves, while repeat listenings uncover new and intricate patterns in each piece. One of the EP's highlights is "Hey, Mr.", a scathing critique of our national drug policy. The stoner-friendly song could be one of the reasons why the Golden Butter Band have been invited to perform at two marijuana marches in Washington, DC, which is currently figuring out how to implement its medical marijuana program. - High Times Magazine
