"Matt Berry + The Cordelier Club @ Kings College London Student Union"

London, 29th November

It’s a long way to the Kings College London Student Union if you wanna Rock n’ Roll!! (especially if the Tube’s on strike!)
The KCLSU saw some really nice bands on the bill for the night: “Matt Berry” and the supporting band “The Cordelier Club”. (Unfortunately we missed the first band: The Intraverse).
When we arrived, Richard and Alice Smith (brother and sister duet) were on stage playing with The Cordelier Club, and you could sense the atmosphere was awesome! The crowd really enjoyed it and danced to “Don’t let it go by”, the A-side of the forthcoming album coming out next week. They also showcased the B side of their new single entitled “We Can Dance”: a really nice disco feel with some funky guitars; it is impossible to be quiet while listening to it, you gotta shake your body, baby!!!
Energy is the first word that comes to mind to describe their performance. The band proved to be capable of owning the audience and the stage, with a nice colourful display mixing electronic pop and rock sounds on a really accurate arranging of the songs, that didn’t sound like indie music but reminded strongly of the 80s’ sound. If you haven’t already seen them live, you should seriously consider doing so! - aaamusic

Bio

We are Golden Feathers.

Gold: a dense, shiny, malleable and ductile metal that survives the acid test and fortifies against the elements.

Feathers: a light, delicate protector that keeps water from a ducks back and enables flight.

A brother and sister duo whose musical journey has taken them from childhood homes across rivers and mountains, through cities and valleys. Their disparate mix of character and personality forever linked for better or worse through an unshakeable belief in melody and sound.

Past lives have seen them supporting the XX to sessions at the BBC’s Maida Vale studios for Radio 1, at the express behest of DJ and Radio 1 tastemaker Rob Da Bank. Having previously recorded with Mike McCarthy (Spoon, They Will Know Us By The Trail of The Dead), they have recently started finalizing their debut EP with East London producers WW Music, aka Guy Wood and Jo Wills (Irock, Deathray Trebuchey). Golden Feathers have recently signed to Global music publishing (The Vaccines, Tribes, Ellie Goulding) and are managed by Crown Management (Jessie J, Tricky, Ellie Goulding).

As for the music, a lyrical mixture of heartbreak, recklessness and tethered optimism their sound veers from something that could have been written whilst walking around Fukishima in a nuclear biological suit to what it might have been like for Buzz Aldrin if he’d discovered Studio 54 on the dark side of the moon…
