"Golden Light"

[...]

Bio

John and Chris met by summer 2007 at Food Not Bombs Montreal, cooking for the homeless. After discovering each others fascination for rock, they posted an add for a bass player. The only response they got was from Etienne. Luckily he turned out to be the perfect match.
A year later they started hitting local stages as the Hugh Manatee Party, playing soon in such venues as La Sala Rossa and Zoobizarre.

John came from a very hard and rough upbringing and later on in his life found music, which is the reason why he's alive today. His influences are vast in music, but most importantly he loves writers such as: Walt Whitman, John the revelator, Henry Miller, Krishnamurti, Martin Luther King, Hughy P. Newton and others.
Chris grew up in Saarland, Europe. Influenced by 80s hardcore, 90s rock and European folklore, as well as German avantgarde comedy, he came to Montreal 5 years ago.
Etienne was born in Montreal, grew up in Toronto and moved back to Montreal after having failed to find any type of band or scene in Ottawa. A Kraftwerk fan since childhood, he also draws inspiration from Frank Zappa, Georges Brassens, The Residents, Slint and Shellac.

They got together for the joy of playing music and to celebrate rock'n roll in it's most simple and purest form.

Golden Light just recorded their debut EP in May 2009.
