Goldenthorn

Goldenthorn is a Rock/Funk Metal/Psychedelic band. Each member of the band is and has been taking weekly lessons in their respective instruments for many years. We have known each other as friends long before we started our band, and have spent many hours on talking and sharing ideas about forming Goldenthorn. Over the past 4 years, we have worked hard to grasp the concept of the style of our instruments. We communicate well as a group, at practice, recordings or live sessions. ACW has a style that he describes as uncomfortable scales that he has grown comfortable to, with a whacked out funky feel. Ian’s style is original jam band rock and blues. Kareem’s style matches well to ACW’s funk feel. Alex Koffman's style is considered rock off beats with touches of fusion influence.
To achieve an original and new sound, music played on the drums is thought through in order to fit the perfect beat that doesn’t fall under a generic category of any music style. The rhythms the drummer, Alex K. tries to achieve are developed off the complicated rhythm guitar ACW composes. This leaves room for Ian’s lead guitar soloing to take place, while Kareem can keep a spastic slap baseline. This is necessary for Alek K, the drummer of the band to have a solid beat to ride on.
We have performed at venues such as high schools, Harper’s Ferry, the Palladium, TCAN, and several Coffee Houses. Our loud, rock, funk and sometimes psychedelic rhythms attract a variety of audiences.
