"35 Denton-associated dude already dislikes us!"

...Before that, however, Denton acts Goldilocks and The Rock and Land Mammals had their say. It just wasn't always clear to everyone in attendance what was being said.

Goldilocks and The Rock, the latest in an ever-growing list of two-member bands, kicked things off and this writer was thrown off from the very beginning. All of the band's vocals were auto-tuned, like T-Pain. At first I thought it was part of some joke, perhaps an ironic statement of some sort. Why would a band choose that as the trademark element to their music? Where's the wink and nod?

Unfortunately, those thoughts and questions were so distracting that I missed out on a set of otherwise promising tunes. GaTR threw out some catchy stuff with hints of '80's hooks and solid-sounding indie pop, but that auto-tune...! - DC9 at Night

Bio

Goldilocks and the Rock (abbreviated GNR to confused Guns and Roses fans) are a power-pop/rock (and sometimes doom) band from Denton, TX. The band started as just Will Milne (drummer) and Nick Amendola (guitar/vox) as they attempted to waste time after the loss of their previous band, Bob White and the F-Electrics to the horrible drug/heck-hole that is Arlington, TX. Milne and Amendola (both Denton ISD teachers) played shows together, bassless, until Ryan Jarrel (a graphic designer for The Village Church and all-around quiet guy) joined the group in the summer of 2012.

We digest many diverse influences and then regurgitate them together into a strange format. Influences include: The Smiths, The Cars, Lil Wayne, The National, Nick Cave and music from Twin Peaks.
