"A Solid Gold Review"

Solid Gold (GoldTooth's second full-length CD) is a mix of bong-rattling stoner-rock riffs, throat-scraping growls and more than a few nods to ‘70s classic rock and ‘80s heavy metal. Still, the album contains plenty of nuance and precision despite all of its hard-rock action. Opening track “Gunshy” wastes no time unleashing a stuttering riff, but right at the halfway point (Jeff) Gallo toys with a massively overdriven, two-note rockabilly figure before breaking the song down with some ominous, Tool-esque ambience. After a few spins of the disc, it becomes clear that GoldTooth is interested in rocking your face off.

Bio

GoldTooth was formed in the fall of 2006 as a response to the pretentious singer/songwriter scene emerging in St. Louis. The GoldTooth vision was to create a sound that paid homage to acts such as AC/DC, Motorhead, and Helmet with big guitars, thunderous bass, powerful drums, and commanding vocals. The original line-up included Jeff Gallo (guitar/vocals), Wil Pelly (bass), and Brian “The Kid” Hilgert (drums). The band’s debut album, “Ghetto Blaster”, was recorded and released in late 2007. In 2008, drummer Joe Meyer joined GoldTooth, bringing a renewed energy to the band. Look for GoldTooth to tour regionally touting their second full-length CD “Solid Gold”.
