Bio

Danny Moody
Danny, Gone Country Band’s Lead singer and bass guitar player was born in Tampa, Fl., and now calls West Point, Ga. his home. Danny began playing the guitar at age 13, played in his first band at 16 and received his first recording contract with MCR Records in Nashville at the age of 22. Danny has been a featured artists all over the United States and Canada and has been the opening act for such artists as Hank Williams Jr., Vince Gill, Steve Warner, Lee Greenwood, Mel McDaniel, and has accompanied the group Alabama on stage. Danny has formed the Gone Country Band featuring some of the south’s most talented musicians and plans to perform for many more years.

Timmy Godfrey
Timmy, born in Galveston, Texas, now makes his home in West Point, Ga.Tim began his love of music at the age of 12. Tim taught himself to play the guitar, bass, trumpet and the drums. He played trumpet and tuba in the high school band at the age of 16. He was also 12when he tried out for the elite choir called the Young Singers. He was immediately given conformation that he would be asked to join the choir after his audition. At age 14, he started playing with the youth group and was soon asked if he would also join the adult Praise and Worship team. Tim started playing with Gone Country approximately five months ago, and is looking forward to a successful future in music.

Lamar Moore
Lamar, another Ga. Native, was born in Hogansville, Ga. Lamar began playing the piano at 12 years old, picking out tunes by ear in church, and has been playing for the last 40 years. For the first 20 years of Lamar’s musical career, he played gospel music full time all over the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Lamar has been featured on 16 albums and cds through the years and has performed on the Dove Awards.

Don Williamson
Don, born in Tallassee, Al., now makes his home on Lake Harding in Valley, Al. Don started playing drums at the age of 11 in the marching band. After high school, Don got into the gospel circuit and played 8 years with the Kingsmen Trio and other gospel groups. Seven years ago, Don started playing with the country group Strokin’ Dixie. He played on stage with great acts such as Freddie Hart, Razzie Bailey, Ronnie Stoneman, Percy Sledge, John Snider, and many more. Don has performed at Venues all over and has performed at the Nashville Palace. Don is also a singer/songwriter. His notorious quote : I’m merely the drummer.

Roy Matthews
Roy, originally from Germany born a U.S. citizen, moved to America at age 5. He started playing guitar at the age of 12 and was in his first garage band at age 13. At age 15, Roy had an accident that cost him 2 of his fingers on his left hand. So Roy turned his right hand guitar around and strung it up left handed and learned to pick all over again. He later started playing around with the harmonica and steel guitar. Due to family situations, Roy had to give up his music to raise his kids. In 1996, Roy’s son got murdered, then he turned back to his guitar for closure. Roy has played with local bands like Southern Justice and The Strokin’ Dixie Band. He has been on stage with great acts like Freddie Hart, Razzie Bailey, Ronnie Stoneman, Percy Sledge, John Snider, and many more. Roy has performed at venues all over and performed at the Nashville Palace. Roy has played steel guitar on cd with Muscogee Slim and lead guitar, steel, and harmonica with Strokin’ Dixie, and is now in the process of recording a demo with The Gone Country Band. Roy has written and recorded 3 songs and is working on many more.
