Roll Marbles

Written By: Christopher R. Gesualdi

For just one night
if you came back into my life
and we kept each other warm
and held hands
I’d kiss, different,
parts of your forehead
I’d sense hope

but if you ever tried
to love me again
I’d remind you that you left me
I’ll never feel the same
I’d stop you before
you remember why, you did

for just one night
if you came back into my life
and we kept each other warm
and held hands
I’d kiss, different,
parts of your forehead
I’d sense hope

but if you ever tried
to love me again
I’d remind you that you left me
I’ll never feel the same
I’d stop you before
you remember why, you did

if you grew out my pores
I’d use a sideburn trimmer
to take out the bulk
then lather and straight blade
for smooth smooth skin
if you flew out my faucet
I’d turn your handles to halt
then wrap your spout
in a towel with duct tape
and stop sending my envelopes
if you sprouted out soil
I’d take scissors to your yield
dig dig with my hands
to your roots, cup them then scoop
then pluck, one by one by one by one
if you scaled, my tiled steps
I’d squeeze baby oil, industrial-size,
and roll marbles lots of them
all different colors
through one of those tall cold sliding gates
from middle school stairways

if you ran, across the bathroom floor
I’d end you with tissue and spiral you into the sewage sea

for just one night
if you came back into my life
and we kept each other warm
and held hands
I’d kiss, different,
parts of your stomach
I’d sense hope

but if you ever tried
to love me again
I’d remind you that you left me
I’ll never feel the same
I’d stop you before
you remember why, you did

Moons

Written By: Christopher R. Gesualdi

If you think you’re done with me
slow down, we’ll be family
no one better for you than me

please keep us together
fight for me
like I fight against you
I’m going to leave you again
and when it happens

turn off the tears, and
just wait a minute
I'll be right back
don't know why I
do these things but at the end
but at the end of the Earth

when we’re slitting
each other's throats for survival
I would never hurt you
then the moon landing
but I’m going to leave you again
and when it happens

turn off the tears, and
just wait a minute
I'll be right back
don't know why I
do these things but at the end
but at the end of the Earth

Eddie's Packin' Heat

Written By: Christopher R. Gesualdi

Only reveling in risks
he’s already taken
like they mean anything
as if the future isn’t everything
he sits on a ledge,
trying to be fragile
waiting for big breaks
he keeps banking on potential

a word that’ll turn
to missed opportunity quickly
turns maybe to never
together to severed to
see you only in the dreams
that at this point don’t mean much
from the days that he’s already seen
from the corn that he’s already creamed

he looks to the past and
then it turns that way even faster
he looks to the back of the class then,
it’s gone and he’s adultish
older than the tv athletes
older than the bands on the radio
where did the time go
and what did he do with it

Only reveling in risks
he’s already taken
like they mean anything
as if the future isn’t everything
he sits on a ledge,
trying to be fragile
waiting for
he keeps banking on potential

he looks to the past and
then it turns that way even faster
he looks to the back of the class then,
it’s gone and he’s adultish
older than the tv athletes
older than the bands on the radio
where did the time go
and what did he do with it
