Good Kid

Solely based off of the band’s debut single, “NOMU“, Good Kid is the perfect combination of genres. Nick Frosst’s vocals have an incredible similarity to that of Panic! At The Disco’s Brendon Urie while the guitarists’ harmonies are just as groovy as Two Door Cinema Club’s. Although the band refers to their genre as indie rock, there are definitely pop influences. The band may not be the first to fuse indie with pop but their approach is refreshing. Good Kid does more than what is expected from indie bands and has crafted a ridiculously catchy song with pop structure. Within 15 seconds of the song, “NOMU”‘s lead captures the attention of listeners. The band’s bassist, Michael Kozakov, along with the drummer, Jon Kereliuk, fuel “NOMU”‘s dance-worthy feel which keeps listeners hooked for the almost 3-minute long track.

Based out of Toronto, Ontario, Good Kid is a five-piece band that released “NOMU” last month. The track was recorded with Crispin Day of Taurus Records (Tokyo Police Club, July Talk). After the success of the single receiving over 13,000 plays on YouTube within two days and reaching #7 on Spotify’s “Canada Viral 50″ chart, the band is already heading back to the studio to record more music. With positive feedback from both blogs and YouTube comments, it is clear that Good Kid’s “NOMU” is the band’s cannonball into the indie music scene.

A new indie band coming out of Toronto called Good Kid have made a splash into the scene with their first single “Nomu”.
