"PREMIERE: LISTEN TO GOOD MORNING’S RIDICULOUSLY CATCHY POP THEN SMASH YOUR HEAD IN A JEALOUS RAGE"

Meet Stefan Blair and Liam Parsons, two Melbourne fellas who are going by the name of Good Morning and dropping the most ridiculously catchy and seemingly effortless pop songs going. Apparently they are super nice guys too. Bastards.

Their debut digital and cassette EP Shawcross is eight tracks of that swirling pop created by people with a melody chromosome that less than 3-per-cent of the population possess. McCartney had it. Beck had it but lost it.

We are not sure if Good Morning have any shows on the horizon but we’d be keen to check them out if only to heckle at their pop smarts and talent. - Tim Scott

"What's So Good"

Melbourne dwellers Stefan Blair and Liam Parsons have been writing music together since meeting back in high school. After combining funds to purchase a Fostex 4-track tape machine, they've begun work on their debut EP, operating under the moniker Good Morning.

The first fruits of their labor are now ready to be shared with the world in the form of their single "Don't Come Home Today." Lazy and sun-drenched, this beachy single is a contradiction of sorts, given it was recorded during Melbourne's dreary winter.

The result is a delightful number highlighted by carefree vocals and some clever guitar arrangement. It's got everything you want out of a slacker pop anthem.

Good Morning's EP is due out November 10 via Solitaire. - Hugh McClure

"First Transmission: Good Morning, Don’t Come Home Today."

Good morning, America; it’s currently mid-afternoon here in London, and from Melbourne, we’ve something we’re fairly certain you’ll thoroughly enjoy. Because although Stefan Blair and Liam Parsons – aka Good Morning – profess to attempting to emulate our very own Paul McCartney more than anyone, Don’t Come Home Today sounds more like Grizzly Bear (had the affected Brooklynites been ensnared by Captured Tracks, rather than Warp) by way of straight-up Two Gallants. It’s East meets West Coast therefore, chowing down on something greasier than an hygienically remiss teen’s dermis in a Texan roadside diner, while Chris Cohen’s understatedly sublime Overgrown Path hisses its way through a recalcitrant pair of speakers in the background. And, goddamn delightful, it’s the perfect fit with Friday home time… -

A Vessel – Good Morning
If their music is anything to go by, Stefan Blair and Liam Parsons of Melbourne duo Good Morning are morning people of the Sunday – not Monday – variety; the kind filled with drowsy pillow talk and a sun-drenched, late breakfast. Recorded in Parsons’ lounge room, A Vessel is a watery psych-rock stoner of a song, where the vocals are mumbled rather than sung and the synths wibble and wobble. Stay tuned for a new EP from the pair later this year. - Monica Tan

Bio

Stefan Blair & Liam Parsons come from Melbourne, Australia. The two met in high school and have been writing songs ever since. In 2013, they went halvsies in a Fostex 4 track tape machine. Good Morning is the result of that investment.

Shawcross is a collection of 7 songs spanning 17 minutes, all of which were written over a mildly intense two-week period.  Although it was recorded in the midst of a dreary Melbourne winter, we’ve been told that Good Morning makes people feel like they are having “having an alright time at the beach”.

‘Don
’t Come Home Today’ was the first single off Shawcross. It was the first song written with an EP in mind, and the first sound that the boys have actually been able to stick to for 8 songs - a combination of tape-fucked guitars, soft rock and undeveloped harmonies. A beginners knowledge of guitar and love for people who can actually play the guitar inspired the EP, in which they try and emulate as many real musicians as they can - mainly Paul McCartney.

Soon after the boys the boys released A Vessel / Radiovoice, a two track, kind of Double B side, that can heard over at Brooklyn VeganSelf-produced over two days in April, A Vessel / Radiovoice is born from weird late night collaboration and are some of the first results from a new recording set up that the boys have built in Liam’s lounge room, showcasing a new found interest in recording and production. ‘A Vessel’ throws wobbly synths, double drum kits, awkward falsetto and backwards loops into the mix, resulting in new ground being covered. Meanwhile, ‘Radio Voice’ slows things down - a warped ‘round midnight piano ballad with a dying computer melody.

Soon after Good Morning released a Double A side, 'On The Street / You, which premiered on over at VICE NoiseyIf the two track was a teen movie, ‘On The Street’ would be a cool, tough guy - he don’t care if he gets in trouble cause fuck your rules man. ‘You’ would be the best friend who secretly has a crush on you and has a box with clippings of your hair. Both valid, both necessary. They even come with a weird TWO PART VIDEO, directed by band guru and friend Jesse Sattler, which peers into the special fuzzy time fantasies of GM live band bass player, John Considine. It’s pretty creepy.

The end of 2015 sees Good Morning release their 2nd EP, which is currently titled GLORY. But who knows. It may change any day now.
