Biography

They never had much, but they always had their words. Words in which they want people to hear in order to make a difference. These words are musical literature, "Good Literature". From day one, the fame and glamour will never mean anything, as long as their lyrics and melodies are touching peoples minds, hearts, and imaginations. Four midwestern guys with old guitars, fresh minds, and a new vision for music. Tyrell Ransom, Robert Kuhs, Jordan Stewart, and Russell West bring rock music to a new spectrum with no specific genre as they combine traits of many forms. The band formed in the living room of a small apartment in Branson, Missouri which began as a jam session between Tyrell and Robert. Then became a writing session. Then became Good Literature. From then on, the two dedicated themselves to what easily became their dream and passion, which is music. The move to Nashville, Tennessee tought them many things about not only music, but life in general. They both had very different writing and playing styles, but they never let that get in their way. In fact, they used it to their benefit. Russell only contributed to that once the decision to add to the acoustic duo was made, with Russell on the bass guitar and Jordan stewart on the drums. With influences from Jason Mraz to Dave Grohl, John Mayer to Chris Cornell, Coldplay to Alice In Chains, and so on. All four have a true understanding to who they are and what they want to be as Good Literature. "We know we are different and that is what we like best about playing together. We clash at times, but at the end of the day, that is what helps us to write songs to the best of our ability." So it is safe to say that the fire will never burn out in the hearts of Good Literature. May their music and lyrics never burn out in your hearts. Although, that shouldn't be a problem yet, seeing as their journey has just begun...

Lyrics

Life

Written By: Kuhs, Ransom, West

If anyone told you that life could be so sweet, would you agree?
If you came across the end of a rainbow, would you share the gold with me?

We got everything you need, so free your mind and let it be
We got the birds and bees and trees and the stars above the seas
We got everything you know, so free your heart and let it go
It's not about the price you pay but the way ya live the show

If they crowned you queen of England would you make them call you majesty?
If they tore up all the flowers in your garden, would you plant a tree?
Just hold dear to watch your mama taught you, stand on your feet

Shadow of a Man

Written By: Kuhs, Ransom

One question I always ask and I never get the answer I need
How can you lose it all because of temptation, whiskey or some speed?
The heartache I've collected and the lives I've thrashed
We blame them all on that

But that don't explain the ones I've lost just by being me
Someone I can't change, bend, or tame is the someone inside of me

Someone that looks like me, loves like me, cries like me, and dies inside like me.
Same look, same face but where soul was, pain has replaced.
Now this someone I don't understand turns out to be me in the shadow of a man

The little ones they won't understand even when they're grown
That's just what we say to make it easier to go on
The boxes in the hallway and the U-Haul in the drive make it pretty clear you made up your damn mind

Someone that looks like me, loves like me, cries like me, and dies inside like me.
Same look, same face but where soul was, pain has replaced.
Now this someone I don't understand turns out to be me in the shadow of a man

Someone that looks like me, loves like me, cries like me, and dies inside like me.
Same look, same face but where soul was, pain has replaced.
Now this somethin' I don't understand turns out to be me in the shadow of a man

In the shadow of a man (3x)

Taboo

Written By: Kuhs, Ransom

The last grain of sand is fallin' to the bottom of the hourglass again
Time is short, it's breaking down, we cannot pretend
That all is well, I wish you luck this time
This time around..

Begin to analyze your thoughts
Begin to string them out in words
All of this laughter that your taking after
Is getting worse

Pause and say goodbye, life is hard, it brings you down
We cannot choose to fly
In the ground its raining down, can we choose to die?
No one know when we'll be in the gorund
This time around...

Begin to analyze your thoughts
Begin to string them out in words
All of this laughter that your taking after
Is getting worse

Come inside, stay alive
Don't follow my selfish pride
In this cage, you are the queen
While your throwne's been overseen

Begin to analyze your thoughts
Begin to string them out in words
All of this laughter that your taking after
Is getting worse

The last grain of sand is fallin' to the bottom of
the hourglass again

R.I.D. (Rest In Dreams)

Written By: Ransom

Point the gun right at your head
Pull the trigger and now you're dead
Just in dreams, not reality
But you were always dead to me
Paint the picture with a tainted brush
Take your time no need to rush
The silhouette of your eyes appear
Your time has come, its drawing near

You're dead now, the time is right
Kill you in my sleep
Everything is black from white
Your grave is in my dreams

The bloodshed has stained my mind
The dripping clock is realigned
The second hand holds your empty heart
Seeking revenge from the very start

You're dead now, the time is right
Kill you in my sleep
Everything is black from white
Your grave is in my dreams

You have no motive, it wasn't me
The finger prints cannot be seen
All is covered by your lies
Then I opened up my eyes...

You're dead now, the time is right
Kill you in my sleep
Everything is black from white
Your grave is in my dreams

Porchpost

Written By: Kuhs, Ransom

The moonlight might shine bright sometimes through the porchpost of the midnight sky and I, I try
To feel the words of the hidden star that likes to shine at that corner bar, tell me who you are

It's the move that makes us strange
It's the playing of the game
It's the pain inside that keeps you alive
It's the thought of good enough
It's the thought of being tough
Frustration eats us away, still we look for brighter days

The sunbeam streams right through the view of my TV screen, have we been here all day?
And the muse of life is singing songs that take your breath away, away yea..

It's the move that makes us strange
It's the playing of the game
It's the pain inside that keeps you alive
It's the thought of good enough
It's the thought of being tough
Frustration eats us away, still we look for brighter days

I am washed up, no good
I've been misunderstood
I've been rolled around, beat down in the ground face-down doin' everything that I could
It took me by surprise when there was no sunrise
So I took the night into my hands so I could understand brighter days

We look for brighter days...
