"Whitley @ Amplifier, Perth"

Support came first in the form of local folk duo Goodnight Tiger. Telling heartfelt stories, mostly about relationships, it’s hard not to feel incredibly moved by the two girls, especially when their vocal harmonies kick in. The set was well drilled and tight, with solid, meaty chord progressions underpinning sweet vocal harmonies that drove the emotive force of their songs. They tell the sorts of stories we can all relate to, and strike a happy balance where songs might have a despondent theme, but are played in a way that avoids melancholic and depressing vibes. The only problem was that the vocals did sound a little muddy, but this was the fault of the Amplifier sound system, not the artists themselves. - Faster Louder

"The Atlas Mountains"

Quickly becoming the acoustic pop darlings of the local scene, Goodnight Tiger played after the screening of the film, filling the large room with melodic goodness. The duo made good use of their stomp box, using it to highlight parts of their songs, like they did with the shaker, rather than using it to solely drive the rhythm. The crowd were charmed but largely non-attentive as the duo moved through some lullaby styled songs and closed their set with the catchy 'Sell It To Me'. - The Drum Media

"Revenge Of the Horns by Toxikon"

Goodnight Tiger, composed of Perrin Date and Jill Chrisp, brought a more intimate feel to the venue with their acoustic set. Their vocals were in perfect harmony and tracks like Little Song and After Hours had a sweet, melancholic flavour. The duo attracted a punter who brought with him a crowd of stuffed toys, which he placed on the floor in front of them. It was adorable, yet also slightly bizarre. Not knowing what to say, both the band and the crowd simply joined in. If Playschool ever had a gig, this is what it would look like. With a set that felt just a little bit too long, Goodnight Tiger were the calm before the storm that was The Brow. - Faster Louder

"Goodnight Tiger @ The Moon"

Another band that played at The Moon, although I missed most of their set there was definitely something there that encouraged me to find out more. Goodnight Tiger is made up of Jill Chrisp and Perrin Date with both sharing guitar and vocal duties. I was surprised to discover that they’ve only been playing together for a couple of months and only recently started performing in Perth.

Thankfully they’ve uploaded some tracks to Triple J Unearthed, with more songs available for streaming from their Myspace page. The strongest track and easily my favourite would have to be ‘After Hours’ their captivating voices explore a variety of shades, keeping you interested and when combined with the simple arrangement and strong lyrics, the song soon becomes one you find yourself listening to on repeat.

And with influences such as Washington, Felicity Groom and Abbe May, there’s no doubt given time Goodnight Tiger will receive national attention just like their influences have.
