Lyrics

Headed Home

Written By: Goody Haines

Well I know, I'm headed home...home to my baby.

I've been away...away...So very long.

And I know he'll be waiting...with his arms wide open

I'm headed home, to my baby...I'm headed home.

At seventeen I knew I was gonna wander.
For adventure and to find myself some fame.
But I hooked up with a man... who wanted himself just a someone.
I had a child, but when I left, all I had was my name.

CHORUS:
( Instrumental Break)

And there were times... when I thought... it was the end of the line.
I've done some wrongs and don't you, ya' know I did some time.
But through the missed years... and all the lost tears,
I know ...My child is waiting...
Yes he's waiting for his mama, his mama to return.

CHORUS:

I'm Headed Home, to my baby...I'm headed home.

Florida Is My Home

Florida is my Home
by Goody Haines

I may have been born someplace else, but Florida is my home

My momma & daddy had me up north, but we didn't stay there too long.

I'm just a fresh faced girl..headed on south, filled with the spirit to roam...

I may `a been born someplace else, but Florida is my home.

I trudged to school in the snow, you know I hated those days.
Back when the girls had to wear a dress..
I swear it's uphill... both ways.
This is it my dad declared, I've had it I'm ready to roll...
Your grandma & grandpa are living in Florida,
And that's where we're gonna go.

So we packed ourselves up, got ready to move, dad, mom, brother and me.
Throw in the dog & the cat as well...
I felt like that family on TV. (hum / intro to Bev.Hill. theme)
Singing songs all the way down the Eastern seaboard coast.
Not realizing how my future was set...
"I live in Florida" I could boast.

CHORUS (Instrumental)

Many years have gone by, and I have learned how special is our state.
Plants and trees on this native land, the people and their ways.
I'll pass it all on to my children... so they can do what's right...
share the music here in Florida, Where we'll spend the rest of our lives.

CHORUS (Ya' know it is now... Florida Is My Home)
